Scripture 1 Kings 17:7-16

This scripture reading, like a lot more found in God's word shows the ability of our God to meet the needs of anyone who trusts Him to. The brook by which Elijah had been staying had dried up because there had been no rain. The Lord told him to go to Zaraphath and there a widow would help him. When he came to the gate of the city he saw a woman there gathering sticks. He asked her for some water and bread. She told him that she only had enough oil and meal to make a small cake for her and her son. When they had eaten that, they would have to die because there was nothing else to eat. He told her that God had said that if she made him a cake first, the oil and the meal would last until the drought was over.

This woman had two choices. To do as he said or not to do it. She decided to listen to the man of God and because she did, God was true to His word and the oil and the meal lasted until the rain came again. Had the widow not trusted God to keep His word, her and her son would have surely died. God would have found another way to feed Elijah.

There may come a time in your life when you may have to share with someone from the little you have. Maybe you too may not know where your next meal is coming from. Don't be afraid to share, because the same God that Elijah trusted will also come through for you too. If there are difficulties in your life today and there seems to be no way out that you can see, remember, there is a God in Heaven that cares about you. He will meet your every need if you trust him and don't doubt. Take Him at His word. He will not fail you.

Let God prove himself to you
Guaranteed, He'll come through
Your every need He will meet
If you leave it at His feet.
