Scripture Joshua 24: 13-24

Joshua had led the people faithfully but he knew his time was coming to an end. He was giving his farewell address and reminding the people of what God had done for them and how He had brought them out of Egypt. He reminded them of how God had delivered them from their enemies, gave them cities they didn’t build and vineyards they hadn’t planted. He encouraged them to serve God with sincerity and truth and to put away all the gods that their fathers served. He told them to choose that day whom they would serve. Then he went on to say that as for him and his house, they would serve the Lord.

The people said they would not forsake God and serve other gods. They said that the Lord was their God. Joshua told them that they were witnesses against themselves that they had chosen to serve the Lord. Joshua did all he could do, the rest was up to the people.

Joshua was a good leader. That we can see from what he did. The last thing he did was look out for the welfare of his people. They were his concern for so long, that he made a last attempt before his death to remind them to serve God. He was concerned about their well being. We too should be concerned about the people that we come in contact with everyday, just like Joshua was. Is our main concern making today making sure that people come to know Jesus? If it isn’t, then it is time that we set our priorities straight. Time is fast speeding by and Jesus could come at any time. Tell all you see.

Make sure all people know
They need Jesus today
And that if they accept Him
With Him one day they’ll stay
