One of the things that stood out to me is found in verse 54. There was a soldier watching everything that was happening and his words must have stirred the very courts of heaven. He said...truly, this was the Son of God. He didn’t say maybe this was the Son of God. He didn’t even say perhaps this could have been the Son of God. No, he said this WAS the Son of God. He was the first of many to believe in Jesus. Just minutes after His death, Satan had already begun to lose souls. Glory to God!!!!!
Satan thought that he had won. When Jesus died he must have stepped back and grinned because he had killed the Son of God. Little did he realize that he hadn’t done anything because Jesus said in (John 10: 17,18) that He had the power to lay down his life and that no man took it from Him.
Praise God!!! Satan thought he had won when Jesus was crucified. But His death was victory to everyone who would call on and believe upon the precious name of Jesus. And it is still the same today.
