Scripture Genesis 19:1-28

Sodom and Gommorah was so wicked that God had sent two angels to destroy it. The men of the city wanted Lot to send the angels out to them, so they could have their way with them. This was just one of the many sins they committed. The angels hurried to get Lot and his family out of the city, but even Lot lingered. The Lord was merciful unto Lot and gave him and his family a way out. Still he lingered.

The words the angels said were...do not look back. Then the Lord rained down fire and brimstone from heaven and the cities, plains and even the grass was destroyed. Lot’s wife had a chance to escape, but she was disobedient to the angels command and she looked back. The outcome was that she became a pillar of salt. I don’t know why she looked back. Whatever her reason, the outcome of her disobedience was obvious. God had been merciful and allowed them to escape but she died anyway. There are always consequences when we are disobedient.

Disobedience is a word that is very popular today because it is something we see all the time. This generation seems to be one of the most disobedient. Children are disobedient to parents and many, many parents are disobedient to God. Obedience to the will of God is very important. Whatever situation you find yourself in today, try to be as obedient to the will of God as you possibly can. It’s not much for God to ask from His children in comparison to what He has done for us.

God hates our disobedience
Just as He hated it then
If we are Obedient
We will do our best for Him
