Scripture 1 Corinthians 12:12-26

This is a wonderful passage of scripture. We can see that it is talking about the body of Christ. In other words...all those who are born again and have accepted Jesus as Lord. When we look at the physical body we see many parts. Some seem to just sit there and we wonder why they are there, but they all have a purpose. Our fingers for instance do so many different things. Our eyes are the lamp of the body and don’t forget the tongue, though sometimes it gets us in trouble, it still is set in our mouth for a purpose.

It is the same way with the body of Jesus. We may tend to look at some people and wonder of what use they are to the body. But verses 22&23 says that all members are necessary. We all serve a purpose. There are many thing that need to be done for Jesus and we all have some special quality, even if we don’t think we do.

God’s body has to be united. If the eye said I am not going to see anymore and refused to let us look through it, where would we end up? It’s the same with the body of Jesus. If some members get jealous of other members, how can God use any of them. There will be total confusion. Like I said, be content where God has placed you and work for the Lord with all your might.

I like what verse 18 says. God has set you where you are in the body because He knows that is where you can be most effective. You may look at someone else who seems to be doing so much and wonder, just what am I doing Lord? That is not how you should feel. If you do all you can, where you are, then God will be pleased, no matter how small you may think it is. Be content where God has placed you and work for Him the best you can. Time is too short to waste it.

The body that works in unison
Is one that will accomplish a lot
Use the things God gave you to use
Don’t complain about what you have not
