Scripture Leviticus 19: 9-10

God was always thinking about people who were poor and in need. He was continually making provision for them. We can see from this scripture that this time was no different. God had said that when anyone went to reap a harvest, they were not to gather in all of it. They were to leave some for the poor and stranger. In this way, provision was made for those who needed help.

God is the same today. He cares about how you feel and he is touched when you have a need. Despite this, people still ignore God and keep trying to meet their own needs. Imagine the difference in the poverty level today if everyone decided to do like they did in the Bible days and shared what they had with others. The world would be such a better to place to live in, wouldn’t it? Just imagine if when people harvested their crops of cabbage, turnip, carrot etc. they left some for those in need to gather up. How blessed the poor would be.

Sad to say, this is not always the case. In many cases it is the opposite today. Some of those with more than enough, keep what they have and refuse to share with anyone else or help in any way. I guess I can understand someone being that way if they don’t know Jesus. But for us who know Him, we should be always aware of those around us who are in need and be willing to help in any way we can. The difference in us and them is that we have the love of Jesus within us and He expects us to treat people as He would. Do all you can today and God will bless what you do.

As God provided for the poor
He still provides today
If you can help someone in need
Let nothing stand in your way
