Scripture John 10: 11-18

Jesus describes Himself here as the good shepherd. One who gives his life for his sheep. Anyone who is hired to look after sheep will look after them as long as it is convenient for them. But, if the one that is hired sees a wolf coming, he will leave the sheep and flee for his own life. Leaving the sheep to fend for themselves. When this happens, the sheep are scattered.

Jesus is a different shepherd!!! He will never leave us, His sheep. No matter what the danger is, He will stand by us and protect us. Jesus is indeed our good shepherd. He went to the cross and died so that we might have eternal life. What better protection than that could any shepherd give? The wolf in our case was Satan. His desire is to hurt us and drag us down to hell. He doesn’t care for us.

Many people today follow Satan. They don’t seem to realize that their destination for following him is hell. Not a very good reward for following someone is it? Those of us who follow the good shepherd, Jesus, will one day go where he is and spend eternity with Him. He said before He went away that He was preparing us a place. (John 14:1-3) The choice is yours today. Heaven with Jesus, or hell with Satan. Choose wisely.

The shepherd leads his flock
With tender love and care
Satan is a wolf in disguise
Of him please be aware
