Scripture Leviticus 24: 19, 20

How do you think society would react today if the same laws applied that we find in this scripture? I sometimes wonder if so many crimes would be committed if they did. If a person knew that whatever they did would be done to them, maybe they wouldn’t be so quick to commit the crime. Back then the law said...an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Whatever injury anyone did to someone, the same injury was done to them.

When Jesus came however, things changed. He brought a gospel and message of love. He said if anyone hits you on the cheek, you were to offer them the other one. Quite a contrast, isn’t it? Many people find it hard to obey the law today and I am sure it was the same back there. We have a lot to be thankful for because if some of us had to have done to us what we did to some people before we got saved, we would really be in trouble.

Thank God for the gospel of love that Jesus brought. Matthew 6:44 says....Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you. Jesus is the way today. He taught and showed us what real love was. He gave his life that we might be saved.

Jesus came and things changed
We now can call upon His name
He cares for us, for us He died
He knows how we feel inside
