Scripture Hosea 9: 7-12

God must have been so tired of the continual sin of the people. Every time they seemed to turn to idols. This time was no different. God had warned that punishment was coming. Because the sins of the people were so great, the prophet among them was considered a fool and the spiritual man was thought to be mad.

It seemed that Israel had a short term memory. They kept forgetting all that God had done for them. They knew how much He hated sin and especially hi commandments concerning other so called “gods”. Yet, they seemed to lose their fear of God and continued to go in paths of their own making, the way they wanted to go themselves.

The verse that struck me was the last part of vers 12. He said...Woe unto them when I depart from them. I can’t even imagine my life without God. I would not want to wake in the morning if I knew He wasn’t there, would you? How could we ever live without him? He is our life, our hope, our joy, our everything. Without Him we are nothing.

Oh the hopelessness of anyone when God departs from them. Take an example from Israel today and do not anger the Lord thy God. Desire His presence and live for Him everyday. He is our God and we are His children. Never forget His great love to us.

Be careful how you live today
You don’t want to hear God say
You’ve denied me too long
So from your life I am gone
