Scripture 2 Kings 22: 1-20

Josiah was only eight years old when he became King. The King before him had done evil in the eyes of the God. But, verse 2 says that Josiah did what was right. Helkiah the high Priest found the book of the law and brought it to Shaphan the Scribe to read. Shaphan read it to Josiah. When Josiah heard the words that were recorded there, he rent his clothes. He realized what his Fathers had done and how they had disobeyed God and did not follow any of God's law.

The King told the priest and some others to go and ask God what they were to do. They went to Huldah the prophetess. She told them that God said He would bring evil upon the inhabitants and the land because of what they had done but because Josiah's heart was tender and he had humbled himself and wept before God when he knew what the people had done, he would die before all this would take place. Josiah must have felt so sad for his people but there was nothing he could do. The people had brought this on themselves.

There is a lesson for us to learn from all this and that lesson is that you will reap what you sow. Many people today do many things that hurt others and sometimes it is just so they themselves will get ahead. Never do anything that will cause another person to be hurt. No matter what you do, you will eventually reap from it. I have often heard the saying...what goes around, comes around. I have seen people treat others very nasty, only to see in the distant future that they suffered for what they had done. If you can't do anything good for anyone, then better to do nothing at all. Live each day remembering who you represent and always sow good things in life and you will reap a harvest of good things.

You can't do your own thing
And not expect to pay
For God sees all you do
And pay you will someday
