Scripture Exodus 18:13-26

Moses had taken on the awesome responsibility of listening to all the people's problems and also judging where it was necessary. It must have been a 24 hr job because of the vast number that he had led out of Egypt. Moses was facing what we would call possible burn out. As human beings there is only so much any of us can do.

Moses' father-in-law who was watching the situation, came up with a solution. He told Moses what he felt was the answer to his problem and Moses agreed. Had Moses not agreed and taken his advice, he would have most certainly ended up in a place where he wouldn't have been any good to himself or anyone else.

There may come a time in our lives when we take on too many responsibilities and work will start to weigh us down. When this happens we should never be too proud to accept advice and help from others. When we are willing to accept help, God will always send someone along just at the right time.

God has called each of us to be workers in His field, but he also expects us to use wisdom. Don't become so busy doing things for God that it becomes a duty rather than a pleasure.

Will you be workers in my field
Is what the Saviour asks.
He always gives us grace
No matter what the task.
