Scripture Luke 15:11-24

Can you imagine how the son must have felt as he made up his mind that day that he would go home to his father, to ask for forgiveness? As he grew closer home, many things must have been going through his mind. Would his father turn him away? After all, he had wasted all his money and lived the kind of life that his father would certainly not approve of.

His head was probably hung low and his feet heavier with every step that he took. Then he looked up and what did he see? His father was coming toward him. But wait, he didn't have a look of scorn, but of love and compassion. His father had been watching for him, hoping that he would return. What a reunion as father and child came together.

Maybe you're living like the prodigal son today. You may not be away from your earthly father, but maybe you are away from your Heavenly Father. If you are, take a lesson from the prodigal son. You too can arise and go home into the arms of a loving and compassionate Father. He has been watching and waiting for you for a long time. He'll not turn you away, but will welcome you home. Maybe you're not away from God, but are feeling a little cold in your relationship with Him. If you are, then return to Him and ask Him to rekindle your first love.

Your Father waits with arms outstretched
To welcome you back home
Come back to Him, make up your mind
That never more you'll roam
