Children

Children are a blessing
Sent from God above
He allowed us to have them
To show them care and love
He loans them for awhile
And watches what we do
When we are blessed with children
Whether many or a few

Our children before very long
Are trying hard to talk
In another little while
They're trying hard to walk
They struggle to their feet
Sometimes they fall back down
Across their little faces
Very swiftly comes a frown

They just keep on struggling
Until finally they stand alone
All the time you look at them
See how much they have grown
Before long they don't need you
To do little things for them
They can do it by themselves
You just look at her, at him

We teach them all about the Lord
Bring them up the best we can
Then we stand back and look at them
They're young women and young men
We pray they won't drift away
From the God who loves them so
We pray they won't fall into sin
As out in the world they go

So Lord I place my children
Within your care today
I've taught them all I can
When from me they are away
I know that you'll protect them
They're safe within your care
Although I can't be where they are
You my God are everywhere
