Why

The morning dawned so beautiful
The day it had begun
It looked like any other day
But this was a different one
Jesus had been taken
From the garden and carried away
They wondered within themselves
What else would happen today

Why did they take their Master
All He ever did was good
He never ever hurt anyone
He taught them they never should
Why did they come and take Him
What made Judas do what he did
As they wondered about it
Many questions filled their heads

The people they were accusing
Jesus of so many things
The priests said He blasphemed God
By claiming to be Him
Before Pilate gave the sentence
He asked which one to free
The crowd they chose Barabbas
Surely this cannot be

They saw Jesus bruised and beaten
As they led Him down the street
They had beaten Him so badly
He couldn't stand on His feet
They led Him to Golgotha's Hill
And nailed Him to a cross
Mary and the others stood near by
Feeling the pain of their loss

They crucified their Master
And laid Him in a tomb
But just three days later
Life filled that dreary room
For Jesus He had risen
He had conquered death and sin
Then one day as they sat in fear
He appeared unto them

They were so very frightened
Until He spoke peace to them
He told them to have no fear
For it was really Him
So He is alive today
Seated at God's right hand
Interceding everyday
For every woman and man.
