The Messiah

When Jesus came to earth
The people could not believe
He wasn’t exactly what they thought
Their Messiah was going to be
He came as a babe in a manger
In a common cattle shed
Their King should be born in a palace
With a crown upon his head

They thought He would fight for them
In the physical kind of way
They thought that He would free them
From the tyrants of their day
When Jesus came He spoke of love
As the way to set men free
Some could not accept His way
The Messiah He could not be

But as He walked along on earth
He fulfilled His Father’s plan
The way the Bible spoke of Him
Was made known unto man
He was sent to earth to save them
From their sin to set them free
For His kingdom was a kingdom of love
That would last through eternity

The people who accepted Him
Soon found this man to be
Exactly as God’s word had said
The Messiah was to be
And all down through the ages
From the first day that He came
He changed the world completely
And Jesus is His name
