My Anchor

When you go out in a boat
And just want to go so far
You go just a short distance
And drop the anchor where you are
It goes down to the bottom
It stays there firm and still
For the anchor stops the boat
From going where it will

When storms come up so suddenly
As they very often do
If you have your boat secure
The storm won't worry you
I'm glad I have an anchor
Within my life today
An anchor that will hold
When storm clouds come my way

It doesn't matter what I do
It doesn't matter where I go
This anchor who's called Jesus
Is there with me I know
He keeps my soul secure
He keeps my life aright
I can trust this anchor
To hold secure and tight

My boat of life won't drift
As long as He's on board
You see my friend, my anchor
Is none other than the Lord
He wasn't made with hands
He came down from above
He came to show to each of us
Our Heavenly Father's love

As long as I remain in Him
I'll never drift away
For my anchor who is Jesus
Keeps me firm and safe each day
I know I am protected
From all the storms that blow
For my anchor is the Son of God
Who looks out for my soul.
