--==* Serious Child *==--
A doe among the forest green,
So careful of her space.
No more so was the Serious Child,
In keeping to her place.
She traveled, bundled, far away,
And near as well, it seems.
But no one ever thought to ask,
"Dear Child, what are your dreams?"
They gave to her a Serious name,
She worked to make it fit.
She studied hard and endlessly,
forsaking common wit.
Unhappy? Yes...she had no life.
She'd given it to THEM.
And what she wanted for herself
she knew they'd quick condemn.
But then she met a random man,
An empty drawer of dreams.
He took her life, and ran away,
She'd lost again, it seems.
Her echo haunted her at night,
and often days as well.
She told of him to go away,
And break his draining spell.
But she was lost, and rightly so,
No anchor could she drop.
Until a Viking, tall and strong,
Took hold and made her stop.
The doe is gone, a memory past,
The Serious Child no more.
And on her right a Viking stands
Sails set for unknown shore.
Her days are finally cheerful now
For she has found her life.
And soon she'll be a Happy Child.
A Viking's loving wife.
