A bargain, and a welcome deal,

And I should be so glad for her,

A house slave, she will be.

And never have to work the fields,

Like most of us, you see.

But I can't stay, for she is gone,

We made our plans, in case.

Tonight we're leaving for the North,

To find our own free place.

If they should catch us, I'll be whipped,

And sold so far away,

That we will never get the chance

To try again, someday.

But Nathan made it, so they say,

And Zeke and Mandy, too.

And so, we'll go, where we are free,

And save a place for you.
