---===[ Fort Sumpter ]===---
We never really paid no mind,
The fort was always there.
We tilled the land, and planted crops,
And lived without a care.
*
We didn't want a war down here,
Jeff Davis told us no.
But Saturday, we took the fort,
Them Yankees had to go.
*
So now we sit and watch a ship,
It's headed in our way.
It flies the flag we cannot see,
We'll shoot our guns, today.
*
And when it sinks, there'll be a war,
And some of us will die.
But first we need to shoot the guns,
So they won't ask us why.
*
Tomorrow, there'll be other ships,
And other guns to load.
And some of them will shoot us back,
Cause war don't have no code.
*
But til we fire our warning shot,
It's peaceful, where we stand.
There ain't no war unless you fight,
For freedom, rights and land.
*
They'll call us Rebel, when they win,
And call our war a crime.
We probably shouldn't fire today,
But now we're out of time.
*
All history the winners write,
The losers all are hung.
And land is lost, and money spent,
And funeral bells are rung.
*
So, should we shoot our captured guns,
And kill a million men?
Or go back home, and free our slaves,
And learn to plant again?
