Goths and Monsters Links
Goth
- XianGoth.net
- My home away from home, or website away from website as the case may be. XGN is an intentional community for liberal Christian Goths, with articles (many of which I've authored), reviews, interviews and a message board.
- Burke's On the Sublime and Beautiful
- Edmund Burke's seminal philosophical essay on the subject of the Sublime, the understanding of which is essential to understanding Goth.
- Morbid Outlook Magazine
- Pretty okay Gothic webzine... A little light, but still a good read.
- Dark Doors
- A nice Gothic arts site out of Edmonton, Alberta. The best feature is the online radio courtesy of Live365.
- Sublime Anxiety
- The website for a University of Virginia exhibit on Gothic imagery from the 18th century through today.
- City of the Silent
- One of the best resources for cemetery afficionados, with guides to cemeteries, cemetery imagery and other things.
Monsters
- Monster Kid
- An online magazine harkening back to the days of Famous Monsters of Filmland and Monster Kid culture.
- Monster Shindig
- Another website recalling the grooviness of monster kitsch. Also features Roadside Horrors, a spooky travel guide, with some entries on Alberta by myself.
- The Tim Burton Collective
- Get all the skinny on Tim Burton's latest projects at this site.
- The Vincent Price Exhibit
- An online repository of everything Vincent Price, from his famous horror films to his obscure cookbooks (the ultimate Gothic kitchen item!).
- Ackerfandom
- An unofficial webpage devoted to Famous Monsters of Filmland editor and uncle to all the Monster Kids, Forrest J Ackerman.
Spooky Disney
- Doombuggies.com
- The best website around on the subject of Disney's Haunted Mansion attraction, with a great message board devoted to the rides, Disney's spooky movies and other monster kitsch. I'm "CoryTheRaven" on the message board.
- Disney's Villains' Lair
- Disney's official Villains website.
Goofy Stuff and Halloween
- Halloween: Myths, Monsters and Devils
- An excellent work by a folklore historian dispelling the myths of Halloween's pagan or Satanic origins.
- Haunted Mansion
- Cyberhaunt's online Flash tour of a haunted domicile. Cute.
- HalloweenKids.com
- A family Halloween site sponsored by Universal Studios and UNICEF. Features Universal Studios Monsters online games, including Dracula!
- Gallery of Monster Toys
- A nice site featuring monster-related toys from the 60's through today.
Tiki
- Hanford Lemoore's Tiki Room
- Okay, so Tiki isn't Goth or monstery, but it is part of the same 60's cultural melieu as the Monster Kids, and I admit that I've kinda' started getting into it.
- Shag
- The official website of neo-lounge style artist Josh Agle.
