i wonder where butterflies go in the winter
i wonder what secret place they hide
a cave somewhere of light and warmth
a refuge from the cold outside
where ice-winds howl and shake their fists
at frail creatures with wings of fire
who dare to live past summertime
and bare their bones to winter's wire
i'm sure they live through sleep of reason
when frozen splinter cut and sting
they MUST return, with turn of season
when frozen winter dies for spring
Dedicated to
my innocence
