#1 Answer in Detail
One of the great things about art history is just the joy of thinking about
what may have inspired an artist
to do his or her great work. Not all answers can be proven concretely and
not all projected hunches are
without doubt. By reading, looking, seeing and listening and being alert;
you will probably come to believe that some authors
,art historians, and critics are closer to the mark, and that is what makes
them great.
= all or any of #1 through 6
1. Could be
2. Yes
3. No I do not think the nun is right, and therefore you are not right either.
4. Don't like to think about art in this manner
5. Only Corot and Giorgione would know
6. any or all of the above
#2 Answer in Detail
2. Picasso's monumental figures of 1923-24-Femme Assiese(1923)
3. Picasso's , Greek Woman (1924)
"About 1850, Corot executed one of his finest female figures, inaugurating
a series of half-length portraits painted for pleasure in the studio. The
Fair Maid of Gascony has a serene strength, an almost sculptural solidity
unique in nineteenth-century painting.
Figures of such power and aloofness will not be found again until Picasso's
Femme Assise of 1923 and the Greek Woman of 1924(Collection Alex Maguy,
Paris) are sisters to Corot's Fair Maid of Gascony; all three exhibit the
same broad brush stroke, a soft flat pigment, and the same palette."
from Corot, by Madeleine Hours

Also compare Cezanné's to Corot's figures . The sense of construction,
the search for density, are goals common to both artists." (M. Hours)
Both have sculpturesque treatment, serenity of the model, monumental fullness.
#3 Answer in Detail
1. Louisine Havemeyer of New York City
Louisine Havemeyer was an art collector in America from about 1855 to 1929.
Louisine mainly sought after and acquired portraits by Corot as opposed
to his landscapes. This preference for figure studies put her taste in the
front garde, as most other collectors were then seeking after Corot's landscapes.
(Such as Frick) Louisine thought that the portraits were strong and original.
And she was right. That is why American Museums are lucky to have in their
collections so many superb Corot figure works today.
#4 Answer in Detail
""He gave financial assistance to the widow of the artist
Millet and in 1868 he bought, through Daubigny, a house at Valmondois for
the by then financially destitute painter and caricaturist 'Daumier. He
also made a generous donation to assist the victims of the siege of Paris
in 1871 and in 1873 helped the widow of his lifelong friend Aligny to settle
her late husband's estate., from page 94 Corot -"Father Corot",
by Michael Clark.
And - " Honoré Daumier was a sick old man living in a damp and
dilapidated house at Valmondois, which his landlord refused to heat until
Daumier paid his back rent. Corot had a new floor installed in the roommate
his own expense and wrote to Daubigny, who was a neighbour of Daumier's:
"Now we must get the landlord off that old fellow's back. buy the house,
the money is enclosed." Tears came to Daumier's eyes on hearing the
news,"- from page 32 , Corot by Madeleine Hours.
