David and the Dolphins
In 2000 I visited the Sea Life Park on Oahu. There I learned that the
correct way to train dolphins is to ignore bad behavior and reward good
behavior. Yes, pretend the bad behavior doesn't even happen. All
carrot, no stick! No attention to bad behavior extinguishes it
effectively; the dolphins love attention and will shape their
behavior accordingly. The more I learn about the universe (thank you,
Rev. Maureene), the more I realize everything--the universe
itself--responds well to dolphin training.
