MOHAMMAD MIAN SOOMRO
KARACHI,
May 26 (APP)- Mohammed Mian
Soomro, a prominent banker and financial management expert, Thursday on
May 25 took oath as the new Governor of Sindh at an impressive ceremony
held at the Governor House here. Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, Justice
Syed Saeed Ashhad, administered the oath of office to Mohammed Mian Soomro,
who served as President of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) before he was
designated for the office of Sindh Governor. Earlier, Sindh Chief Secretary,
Muhammed Zubair Kidwai, read out the Commission of Appointment issued
by the President of Pakistan, appointing Mohammed Mian Soomro as Governor
of Sindh.
The
ceremony was held at the fully packed Darbar Hall and attended, among
others, by Provincial Ministers, Dewan Yusuf Farooqui and Anita Ghulam
Ali, judges of the High Court of Sindh, representatives of the Armed Forces,
Secretaries of all the Sindh Government departments besides Commissioner
Karachi, Inspector General Police Sindh and other senior officers.
The
family members of the Governor were also present at the ceremony. After
being administered the oath, the Governor was warmly felicitated by the
invitees one by one who wished him all success during his tenure as Governor.
