Steve has kept busy in one musical project or another since 1980, when he helped form the original rock band Processor, which played several well received shows at the Keystone Palo Alto. In the late 80's, he gigged with the band Split Decision at various venues including the Odyssey Room, and contributed to several local recording efforts. This self-taught drummer lists Billy Cobham as both an influence and inspiration, as well as the late Tony Williams. While his listening tastes lean toward the fusion edge, his preference in playing is rock-n-roll. Other influences include Todd Rundgren, Frank Zappa, and John McLaughlin.

Steve plays Tama drums and hardware, Yamaha snare and hi-hat, DW pedals, Zildjian cymbals, and ProMark sticks.
