Overclock results
First I putted Athon 500 MHz.and booted it at defalse voltage it is very fast system but I wanted to know that how overclockablility is it so I enter the bios and set the FSB to 110 MHz. at 1.6 volts(defalse). It booted find without problem. But other setting more than 110 MHz cause instability or blue screen. Although I changed voltage to 1.8 volts.
As seen in news group, many can overclock this chip to 700 MHz.I plan too.Because changing FSB wasn't more than 110 MHz. Only 550 MHz can be done.To get more than this you need to open Athlon case and solder specific resistances too. With other boards you must pay attension at 12 resistances but in Asus K7M only 8 resistances are needed. First I soldered it at 600 MHz.it booted fine and very stable so I combine it with changing FSB .but not more than 108 MHz.So the system was booted at 648 MHz. 48 MHz. more than changing multiple alone. So I went to next step that is solder it to 650 MHz.or mutiply at 3.25 .When combine with changing FSB which could done only 105 MHz.It booted fine at 683 MHz. and past some tests fine.Below are some benchmark and CPUID.
Conclusion
Asus produce a good motherboard that don't follow "fester" design. Its' stability and overclockable is outstanding few disadvantages. For non-overclockers this is the board of choice as other fester boards. And for overclockers this is the board of choice now that adding further speed by additional FSB.You can get further 30-50 MHz from it.
