Introduction
Diskpack 97 has two main functions:
You can split a huge file to some smaller files, which you can copy
on floppies (e.g. 1.44 MB or 1.22 MB).
With the second function you can paste the splitted files to the old
huge file.
The program allows you to copy the splitted file parts directly to
Drive A:\ or B:\ but you can also copy them
in a temporarily directory of your harddisk.
All BETA-Versions of Diskpack 97 are Freeware. You can use it without
any fee.

How
to split a file
The first main function of Diskpack is to split a huge file into some
smaller ones.
When you start Diskpack, you will see the Main window. There you can
choose between 'Split' and 'Paste'.
Please press the 'Split' Button.
Then the split window as shown below appears:

The first thing is to specify the file to split. Press the 'Browse' Button
on the top (right from the text-box 'File to split')
A Dialog will appear. Here you can find and specify the input file

The next thing to do is to choose the file format. The default value is
1.44 MB. If you want to change this, you can do
this in the 'Floppy format' Box. You can choose between '1.44 MB' ,
'1.22 MB' or 'Other'.
If you choose 'Other' you can specify any value between 850 KB and
50 MB by clicking on the 'Format' Button

Now you must choose the output position. Default is 'Floppy drive A:\'.
You can choose 'Floppy drive B:\', too.
If you want to save the splitted files on yout Harddisk, you can do
this by choosing 'Harddisk'.
Then you have to specify the output directory by clicking on the 'Directory'
Button and the output filename by clicking
on the 'Browse' Button on the top (right from the text-box 'Output
files'). You must not enter any extension for the
output files. Diskpack will set them automatically.

Now you are ready to split the files. Press the 'PACK!' Button to start
action. An infomation box appears, showing the number
of needed floppies. If you press 'OK' the split-process will start.
If you have chosen to copy directly on floppy-drive, the
program will ask you to insert the floppies. Please insert the floppy
and press 'OK'.
At the Bottom in the Statusbar you can see the actual filesize, the
number of floppies, you'll need and the actuall process indicator.
The value on the right ('READY') shows you the actual running staus
of Diskpack. If the program is doing any file activities,
the value is set to 'WORK'. Note that Diskpack will create file with
the extensions '.001', '.002', '.003', and so on.´
How
to paste files
The second main function of Diskpack is to paste the splitted files
to the original one file.
In the main window, select the second Buttobn 'Paste'
Then a window named 'Diskpack 97 - Paste files' as shown below appears:

First, you have to specify the input position. Do this with the 'Input
position' Box. Here you can choose between
'Floppy drive A:\', 'Floppy drive B:\' or 'Harddisk'. If you choose
Harddisk, you must also specify the path and the
name of the first input file. For that click on the 'Browse' Button
at the right top corner of the window. Then a Dialog
appears, where you enter the path and the filename. (The first file
has the extension '*.001')

Now you must specify the name of the output file. You can do this with
the 'Browse' Button right from the text box
'Output file' at the top.

All done for pasting! Press the 'PASTE!' Button to start action. After
Diskpack has read the first file, you will see
the number of files at the bottom in the statusbar.
