Quest For Glory IV
Shadows of darkness

The 256-colour Quest For Glory IV contains some funny easter-eggs and jokes. If you happen to have found other ones, please send them to the e-mail address stated on the index screen.

In the 4th issue of the famous adventurers correspondence school, you can see an advertistment from Carl Atlas Body Boulding Equipment Company. The adress is 9999 Risera Lane, Silmaria. Risera is another anagram of Sierra. (Thanks to Gary for sending this one in)

At the guild hall, you can see a moose stuffed. You might notice that this moose also appears in all other QFG games. Thanks to Domen Novak, we noticed this joke

In the bookcase at the guild, read some of the books. One of the "books" is actually not a book, it is a brochure of dr. Cranium. The mad(er.. sorry... he is not mad he is just crazy) doctor predicts that Sierra On-Line will make a game called dr. brain, and dr. brain will be one of the good doctor's grand-sons. The narrator might think this is unbelievable, but this is true. Sierra has made a game called the castle of dr. brain(and also the island for that matter). He also mentions once that he hopes that one of his descendants will live in a castle(which if of course, also Dr. Cranium).(Thanks to Dave Mansell for telling me about dr. Craniums descendant)

At dr. cranium's place, in the main hall, you can see the T.R.A.P. You must indentify an animal with this machine(which one? I won't tell you). If you choose one of the answers that it is a beast, which says: only you can prevent savannah fires. You learn of smokey the elephant. You can see him, when you leave a fire burning. Just try this in QFG3, and you might see him

Just like the moose(see above), there is also another animal which appear in every chapter of Quest for Glory. This time, it is a black bird statue. This time, you can find it in the monastery(if you are a thief. if you are another character type, the black bird doesn't exist in Mordavia). When you enter, you can see an alcove, just above the door. Look at it. There is something black standing there, with the shape of a bird. Could it really be the famous black bird? Try to climb up, to the alcove, and get it. Now you can see it's just another cheap imitation of the real thing? Where lies the true black bird? Maybe in the last QFG? Thanks to the following person's for helping us finding the bird : herald_mage@hotmail.com, "fertilayzer", Mike, PapaSmrf4@aol.com, Adam Henrickson

The cute(cute?), little, innocent(innocent?) bunny which you can fight, plays also the part of the bad guy, in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. (Thanks to Elizabeth for telling us about this joke)

Just outside Baba Yaga's hut, you can see a pestle and a mortar. When you look at it, the narrator says that is could belong to a frontier pharmacist(Reffering to Freddy Pharkas(another hero from Sierra), who also is a frontier pharmacist)

When you have a lockpick(if you need to know how, mail me), try to pick the lock of the door outside dr. Cranium house. "Naughty" will appear twice under the nose. Also, if you try to pick the nose, a text will appear, saying that it's rude to pick other people noses...

A very silly joke happens at the end. When the narotter says : "Still, there's a fire burning inside you, ..." (Further text is not displayed, because if someone doesn't know anything about this, and doesn't want to know anything about it), and then the enemy(Name is not displayed for the same reason) casts a flame dart at the hero. Then there's a fire burning inside the hero...

When you are a thief, make the thief sign at the Rusalka for a very silly answer from her...(Thanks to Freak7845 for telling me this).

Do you see the crack above the roof? Right of it is a hole... look at the hole, and the narrator will tell you a silly joke.(Thanks to Jethro Gulner for telling me this joke)

Use one of the bricks. One of them is loose. Yuck! It's full with worms and slugs. But they aren't your taste, so you replace the brick(Send in by D.P.)

When you're breaking into the old man's house, kill him with a dagger. Dead men tell no tales, eh? Well, this one does..

The hanged man at Baba Yaga's house, looks just like body, Gabriel Knight sees in his nightmares. Hey, maybe Gabriel just plays QFG4 in his dreams!
