The 256-colour Quest For Glory I icon version contains some funny easter-eggs and jokes. If you happen to have found other ones, please send them to the e-mail address stated on the index screen.
Here's a very nice one, send in by Gary. The adress for the School of Famous Adventurer courses for Heroes is: 12345 Aerris Way, Silmaria. Aerris is an anagram of Sierra.
If you walk on the road and the earth begins to shake, don't worry!
It's just Earl Sinclair from the famous Dinosaurs series, who goes to
work. Later in the game, he walks back to home. We currently can't
tell you whether this occurs random or not... anybody?
In the Mirror Lake (we would like to call it EasterEgg Lake), you can
sometimes find Nessie (Loch Ness monster probably taken from the Sierra
game Conquest of the Longbow). If you talk to him, he tells you that he
has lost the way and he asks whether you can tell him the way back to Scotland.
In the Mirror Lake, you will also be able to find Delphineus (from
the Sierra game Eco Quest) sometimes. If you talk to him, he asks you if you
know where Adam is and then he realises that he's in the wrong game and
swims back to Eco Quest.
When you are at Erasmus, look at the bedraggled, worn, over-used Peacock.
Poor thing... wait a moment, look how beautiful the feathers appear. If you
like these feathers, don't look at him again. They will just disappear.
Also at Eramus, look at the sarcophagus, just west of the room. You will
see it's a Leyendecker sarcophagus(it has a ribbon around it). It is also
tied in Laura Bow(Laura Bow is a character from Colonel's Bequest, and
dagger of Amon Ra, both from Sierra On-line)
At Erasmus, you can see a casket, near the sarcophagus. Click the hand on the
lever, and you'll see a hand from the casket, who will use his hand on the
lever.
One of the brigand archers is a zulu(Perhaps a refugee from QFG3? Thank to
Brian Stumpf for sending in this joke.)
The book which the shopkeeper Kaspar of Dry Goods reads, is called Quest For Glory: A Hero's Death
At the guild hall, you can see an antwerp stuffed. If you ask about it
to the guild master, he'll tell you, it was defeated by the 2 guys, who
came from Andromeda(The 2 guys of Andromeda are the creators of Space
Quest series)
When you are at the gargoyle, who protects Erasmus home, and he begins to
ask questions, try some of the answers wich are wrong. The Gargoyle sometimes
gives very funny comments(thanks to Domen Novak for this) My personal favorite
is that my quest is to become a pirate(the gargoyle will then say i am in the
wrong game. In Lucasarts Monkey Island I your quest is to become a pirate)
This scene is also directly taken from the movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
At the guild hall, you can see a moose stuffed. You might notice that this
moose also appears in all other QFG games. Thanks to Domen Novak, we noticed this joke
You see this beautiful lamp? If you wanna see it, You will have to check
the Katta's tail inn. There you can see, you can get this lamp, in Quest for
Glory II. Thanks to Domen Novak for the joke.
If you really want to pick your nose, use a lock pick, like the one you see left
of here. But a warning. Your skills must be above 40, or else you can't open your
nose. Even worse. We would like to thank herald_mage@hotmail.com for this.
Just like the moose(see above), there is also another animal which appear
in every chapter of Quest for Glory. This time, it is a black bird
statue. You can see him, at the brigand's leader office. Once more thanks
for the joke, herald_mage@hotmail.com and "fertilayzer"
You can see a poor beggar in the alley(but not at night). When you give him
an alm, begin talking to him. He will tell a story, about a man who invented
a cider. He called it Amblin Entertainment from Spielburg(Reffering to amblin's
entertainment from STEVEN Spielburg) Thanks to rick@injersey.com for this joke
Just outside Spielburg city, you can see the place, where a mapseller used
to be. Now he's off to Shapier(And you can see him there, if-a you know-a
who i-a mean)
When you are at the bear in the cave, try talking to him. All right, you
can't talk to bears. But try it again for a very silly answer...(Thanks to
Jethro Gulner for telling me about this joke)
The three brigands in the brigand cafiteria are actually the three stooges,
amd they are really as bumbeling in the game as they are in real life.(Thanks
to H.R. Bradshaw for telling me this)
fs
At the end, when you can see all the people who live in Spielburg, you
can also see some other characters you don't recognize. Now don't be
afraid you missed some part of the game. These are actually creators
from Quest for Glory. When you click on them you can see his/her name, and
something happens with the creator. For example, here you see Cory Cole in
Shapier clothes. When you click on him, you see his name, and his clothes
changes for a second in the original clothes from Quest for Glory I.
If you click long enough on a tree in the forest, he sometimes call it a Daventree (Daventry is the name of the kingdom where King Graham of Sierra's King's Quest rules) Also, one of the tree's is called The Undiscovered Countree( One of the star trek movies is called the undiscovered country)
If you click the mouth on your hero, he says Mumble, mumble... overworked... mumble... underpaid... mumble, mumble... no control over my life...
