Each school contributes to provide information relating to the British warship, HMS Illustrious' visit to Singapore en route to Hong Kong for the handover ceremony. The schools gathered information for this through electronic mail communication with HMS Illustrious as it travelled towards Singapore.
Each school focused on certain aspects of the warship's journey. Xinmin Primary School focused on the route and the facts of the warship, and the description of the Singapore port. Crescent Girls' School focused on the comparative study of women's role in the Singapore Navy and that of the Royal Navy. Robin Hood School shared on rich history and heritage the home port of the HMS Illustrious, which is Portsmouth. The students at Robin Hood Schoolalso highlighted the amount of food that is required to feed the crew on board the HMS Illustrious.
The four schools e-mailed each other and the warship. The essays gathered from their collaboration are displayed on the Internet on the website hosted by the British Councilat the URL: http://www.britcoun.org/singapore/oceanwave/.
