  • Help! Problems pushing K6 266 past 300MHz
Sun 7/06/98 21:09
Hello, thxs for the attachment. The K6-2 is not available in singapore yet and if it is, the price may not be so attractive yet. I got the K6-266 since it cost only about US$100 here.

Got some problem in overclocking though...

- cannot work on 2.1V core (11-12), I used instead 2.3V(11-12,9-10) - able to run k6-266 & k6-300, but at 337 post can detect but pc hangs-up halfway either at memory check or at win95 start-up screen
Tried increasing to 2.4V but same result - of course, tried 375 but not successful...maybe the CPU is of  lower quality (manufactured in malaysia).

Just for your Info, my PC config are as follows :
- FIC PA-2007 rev 1.2
- k6-266 CPU
- 128 MB EDO 60ns Hyundai Rams
- Matrox Mystique 4MB SGRAM
- Adaptec 2940UW bios rev 1.25
- Quantum FB SE 4.3G IDE
- Quantum Atlas II 4.3G SCSI
- Creative Awe64 Soundcard

Any suggestions on how to push the system to 337? I was actually prepared for higher o/c ...got a bigger heat sink with silicon heat sink compound added, also added additional 12V fan at casing near CPU..but I guess I was too optimistic.

Many Thxs & Best Regards,
suhaimi
