Have you read the book "The Face of New York. The City As It Was
and As It Is".
Photographs by Andreas Feininger, Text by Susan E.Lyman. Crown Publishers,
Inc.,
New York? Revised edition, 1st printing, February, 1964 of this beautiful
book
from his friends July 21st, 1964 had received my father-in-law departing
Queens.
The whole book induce to reflection about the places choping and changing
but I
think the most impressive one is the photo Typical cemetery in Brooklyn-Queens
area, 1953. "Even in death the people stay crowded together, huddled
in the
great cementeries of Brooklyn and Queens, still under the shadow of
the giants
who towered over them in life." A temporality ... a perpetuity ...
if only not
exclusively in our (ephemeral - sometimes fortunately) memory!
