About the author (That's me!)

Hi! I'm Andreas Monitzer (hal@rave.at). I'm a 16-years-old pupil from Austria, Europe (Yes, Mozart is from here :). I began computing at 8. I learnt programming languages like BASIC, PASCAL, and LOGO, 80x68-Assembler (in that order). Then I learnt C++ at school.
I'm using a AppleTM PowerBookTM G3 Series Notebook with 233 MHz, 96 MB RAM, 2 GB Harddisk, 13.3" TFT Display, and MacOS 8.1 (german version). My Internet connection is a 33.6 kbps modem at home and a 1 bps line at school.

About the reader (That's you!)

You should have basic knownledge about computers and how to use your operating system. You do not need to know anything about programming, but I'm afraid just to know that a computer is "a thing that I can switch on to write my letters" isn't enought.

About this site

These pages are hard-coded, 'cause in my opinion Netscape Composer sucks and I can't afford buying any other HTML editor (for those who don't know, Composer is free). But I used the "Apple Web Design Guide" to design this site. Great stuff!
It is best-viewed with a large resolution (800x600 should be enought) and Javascript on. Java isn't necassary. I have only implemented cool "OnMouseOver" statements on links (Move your mouse over the word with Javascript on and off to see the difference!). It isn't absolutly necessary, in case your browser doesn't support it or you don't like to activate it on security reasons. I won't be angry :-).

System-specific information:

Graphics are platform-depentend and so I can't cover it. When you're finished with this site, search for a document that introduces your platform but needs basic C++ knownledge. (Mac-Users: Search for "Macintosh C-A Hobbyist's Guide" by K. J. Bricknell, it's a free pdf-book)

Some last words

I think MicrosoftTM sucks. But I can't change anything (yet). So I just sit down and don't use MicrosoftTM products. (That doesn't mean that this site doesn't cover Visual C++.)
