Regular Weapons

Created 02/02/2002

The regular weapons I created when this site was still young have languished on the main weapons page for too long, so here they are, presented on a separate page for your viewing pleasure.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE NOT REAL WEAPONS, PROBABLY NOT RELATED TO REAL WEAPONS, AND THE STATISTICS ARE PROVIDED FOR USE WITH THE GURPS ROLEPLAYING GAME (AS AN AID TO PLAYERS AND GM'S) AND NOT REAL LIFE. THE AUTHOR DOES NOT USE OR EVEN ENDORSE THE USE OF REAL FIREARMS AS THEY CAN BE USED TO KILL PEOPLE. EVEN IF USED FOR "HOME DEFENCE". Got that? THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION. Cheers.

10mm Handgun

Weapon Malf Type Dam SS Acc 1/2D Max RoF Wt ST Rcl Shots Cost LC
10mm gun Ver Cr 4d+2 12 8 300 1800 3~ 3 11 -2 10 900 2

"Hello. I'm the 10mm gun. I've decided to go and live in the weapons depot because nobody is paying much attention to me out there. I can talk to my good friend, the 7.62mm Assault rifle. I wish to drink coffee."

The stats for this original version of the gun came off the top of my head. I didn't have access to GURPS Vehicles 2nd Ed. then (it was at home), so don't expect it to be great, or accurate. I know the Damage and Malf are right though.

Probable statistics: 10mm, conventional rifled, very short barrel, fast autoloader, caseless rounds, pistol grip

Here's some background:

The 10mm gun was built in 2035 as a standard weapon for HardCorps, a group of freelance police officers. It has the capability to drop a man in one shot, if aimed correctly.

This is based on the fact that "average" damage from the weapon is 16 (3.5 x 4 + 2). Subtract 2 for skull DR, and multiply by 4 for a brain hit, and we have 56. Multiply by 1.5 for the bullet calibre, and we have 84. Blow-through doesn't apply on a brain hit, so, as stated, this weapon can drop a man with HT 14 (!) in a single shot.

And yes, this is based on the handgun from the computer game, 'Sin', by Ritual Entertainment (and not by me), although Ritualistic call the weapon the L2-357 Magnum (as you can see in the picture if you look carefully). The weapon has no HUD or Laser sights, and is built at Tech Level 8. I will provide the 'proper' stats as soon as I can find them (looks like it could take a while!).

10mm Colt "Smasher"

Weapon Malf Type Dam SS Acc 1/2D Max RoF Wt ST Rcl Shots Cost LC Hld
10mm Colt Ver Cr+ 4d+2 10 5 320 2500 3~ 3.5 10 -2 10 800 2 -2

Statistics: TL8, 10mm, conventional rifled, very short barrel, fast autloader, caseless, pistol grip, WPS 0.0375

Upgrades: Laser and HUD sights can affect SS and Acc is their usual ways, Recoil reduction will cost £400, reduce Recoil down to -1 to ST to 8.

At long last I present the 'proper' Vehicles stats for the 10mm handgun. As you can see, I got it mostly right, but the range was somewhat off. The gun still retains it's one shot - one kill potential.

This weapon would probably be a future military sidearm, or perhaps a police sidearm if body armour improved (or the police changed their attitudes). Loaded with APS rounds and it would be quite lethal (Cr.+ 6d (2)), able to penetrate light rigid body armour.

TL7 7.62mm Assault Rifle

This weapon is my approximation of the AK-47. Basically, it has similar statistics, but does more damage, and holds less shots. Sorta like a TL7 version of the 5.5mm Assault Rifle (see Ultra Tech 2).

Weapon Malf Type Dam SS Acc 1/2D Max RoF Wt ST Rcl Shots Cost LC
7.62mm AR Crit Cr 6d-1 12 8 500 3200 10* 10 9 -1 20 900 1

Statistics: 7.62mm, Conventional Rifled, Medium Barrel, Light Automatic, Cased, WPS 0.055, Shoulder stock, Recoil Reduction

Upgrades: The TL8 version has twice as many shots (40), a Malf of Ver, and costs twice as much (1800), as it uses Caseless rounds.

TL7 Glock 17 Airgun

Weapon Malf Type Dam SS Acc 1/2D Max RoF Shots ST Wt Rcl Cost Hld
9mm Glock Airgun Crit Cr. 1d-3 9 0 19 100 1/2 17 9 3 -1 180 -2

Statistics: 9mm, conventional rifled, low power, short barrel, air gun (1 shot), slow autoloader, WPS 0.036lbs, CPS 0.073, psitol grip, magazine weight 0.9lbs.

The gun is assumed to fire Plastic bullets. It could be reworked to fire real bullets... cost is $100. Damage would increase to 1d-1 and Malf would drop to 16...

This weapon is based on a real-life airgun, and is built using David Pulver's 'Optional Weapons Expansion Rules'. Note that the gun is not a very good combat weapon. This is intentional. you can probably pick up the 'firearm' for about 10% of the price...
