Slovenia - The Early Days

Here are one person's (Bear's) pics of the first couple days in Slovenia.  He couldn't take pictues of them actually playing because he was one of the players.  The numbers in the text correspond to the pictures below. 

1) Leavin' on a Jet Plane - The team meets in the underground parking at Lake Avenue for prayer.  Then it's off to LAX for the 12 hour flight to Ljubljana (Loob-lee-ahnna) plus layover in Frankfurt (whew!).

2) First impressions of Slovenia:  Old World European beautiful.  A shot of the town square.  The team played here at a restaurant just off the left edge of this picture.

3) The small but lovely hall in a hotel where the Ljubljana Christian Fellowship, the host church, holds their services.  The team squeezed in and played - with no mics.  They had worked hard and actually managed to sing several songs in Slovene - more or less!

4) After a long day doing the live TV show, the team relaxes over a meal.  Several people they encountered later during the trip recognized Lisa, who sang lead on Amazing Grace on the TV show.

5) Some Slovenian scenery. The Dragon, symbol of the city, was erected in 1901.

6) The coastline along Rovinj, Croatia.

7) Mike Anderson, the group's baritone (is is bass, Mike?) walks along a narrow path to the church at the top that overlooks Rovinj. 

8) Around every corner there seemed to be another expression of God's lavish gift of beauty.
