- First thing is first, you'll need to uninstall AOL 5.0 to do so,
click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double-Click on the icon
labeled Add/Remove programs. Highlight American On Line and select
Add/Remove. It will then search for all of the versions of AOL on your
computer (you don't need to remove all AOL programs)
- Select the AOL 5.0 and then Remove it. (Uninstall it)
- After this has been done, and you have your Windows CD (or CAB files

Computer. then make sure it has a

you will NEED to get a CD for your computer (win95/98))
- Close out the Add/Remove programs (by clicking on OK, and if it says
you need to restart, say No, or if it is just an OK then click on OK)
- Open the icon labeled Network; Select AOL Dial-Up Adapter and then
select Remove. Should remove two items (AOLDUA and TCP/IP for AOLDUA)
- Click on OK at the bottom, and when it asks say Yes you would like
to restart, if it gives you a version conflict, say Yes to all of the
version conflicts you receive.
Fix 2:
- Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double-Click on the icon labeled
Network.
- Select the Dial-Up Adapter (DUA) and then select Remove (which will
remove DUA and TCP/IP DUA) Click on OK, when Prompted to Restart, say
Yes
- Get back into the Network (if not sure go back to Fix 2, #1) Click
on Add, Highlight Adapters click on Add again. Highlight Microsoft,
and then Dial-Up Adapter (on the other side, if it is not already
selected), Click on OK.
- Should have added TCP/IP DUA, if not, click on Add, Protocol,
Microsoft, TCP/IP.
- You should then Have Dial-Up Adapter, and TCP/IP for Dial-Up Adapter
if so, Click on OK, and Restart your computer when Prompted.
