Savetime Cad Services
Savetime Cad Services is my home based business located in the Phoenix metropolitan area. I provide electrical design and Cad services for various small industrial and commercial projects. I also offer AutoCAD training for beginning operators and the engineering professional.
My 25 years Electrical and Controls Design and Drafting experience has been varied, from the timber and lumber industry in Northern Idaho to microelectronics facilities in the Phoenix area. I was a member of IBEW local 73 in Spokane, WA. during 1976 and 1977 and have been an elected member of The Electric League of Arizona since 1990.
I attended The CAD Institute in 1989 and again in 1995. (Now the University of Advancing Computer Technology) and have used AutoCAD since Release 9 in 1988.
Some of what is on the following pages are not necessarily "rules" set in stone, but tips and suggestions based on my own experiences and those of other Cad designers, managers, engineers and architects I have worked with. These techniques are what I have found works best in most plant engineering and A & E offices. (And brother, have I been in my share of those places!)
The keys to using AutoCad effectively is creating and/or using simple sets of standards and automation. Too often the program is complicated by excessive and repetitive customization. By keeping AutoCad as simple and as understandable as possible, the program can be utilized by more users of varied experience levels, while at the same time automated just enough to implement desired standards.
I sure as heck don't profess to have all the answers, but I do continue to seek out newer and better ways to use this powerful tool and try to share what I learn with everyone interested.
If you have a question or are looking for something specific like a lisp routine, please use my Geocities Guestbook at the bottom. I also have a 100 question AutoCad evaluation test available by e-mail. I can also provide a list of new features offered in the new AutoCad 2002 release.
