Reminiscing

I remember afternoons
When I was a boy
Playing in the autumn sun
My friends, myself, our toys

I remember hearing Mum
Calling from the door
Cool sweet drinks and biscuit treats
Refreshment we adored

Then back to the cubby house
We would rush to play
As pirates conquering the seas
Or heroes of the day

The sun would slowly drop away
My friends would all go home
I would close my eyes and sleep
On those autumn days long gone
