1. Yahoo Instant Messenger (YIM)

I like this Messenger since It uses to find a person very quickly and instantly, very easy to handle, and alert when you get e-mail in yahoo mail, and can do Video and Audio Conferencing. Also When your friend enters into internet and enabled YIM, your computer will pop-up a window  which alerts you to talk to your friend. If you have Yahoo mail account you can extend the same id to this. And you can link from YIM to a web chat. It also supports SOCKS4, SOCKS5 and HTTPS Proxy. Moreover it is wonderful as I used it.

2. AOL Instant Messenger

It has one advantage than YIM, It can connect other than standard UDP port 6667 and 7000. Since most proxies block this port. AOL uses other port numbers to communicate, thus overcome standard proxy port numbers.

3. Microsoft's Netmeeting

Netmeeting has all advantages but it restricts it's use in using the  Internet Location Server. It has more advantage such as sharing the application, sharing the whole desktop,  Group Chat or peer to peer chat, White Boards where you can draw diagrams,  Video Conferencing, Audio Conferencing, etc., . It can also be used in a local area network. You can also use the same in internet, as if a LAN,  if  both the persons were working with an IP in the internet, without Internet Location Server. Here is the IP of your computer

4. Chatting Via IRC Server

                                Here you need two specifications to communicate with the another person in the internet. You have to specify
   1.   IRC Server name eg.,  mirc://irc.dal.net
   2.   Channel Name or Room Name.
            Either one of you give the two spec and timings and you can both meet on the net lively.You can use  mIRC chat client for this purpose.

5. E-mail Chat Client
          With this one can chat using the mail itself, the mail is checked frequently and the data is extracted and displayed in the screen as like a IRC chat client.
