If you bought that...

I'm a graduate of Tufts University (B.A., Russian Language and Literature, 1989). I actually started off as a pre-med major, but too many inebriated nights and way too many early morning classes (I was lucky if I showed up for the exams) pretty much put an end to that. So I picked up Russian. Didn't really care at first where a degree like this would take me. If only I'd known then....

Damned if I didn't end up in the military. Went through Officer Candidate School, yadda yadda yadda. I joined for the right reasons, but was too cynical to buy into the whole "hoo-ah" ethos. As time went on, I found myself wondering what would have happened if I had only applied myself to my studies during freshman year. So I left.

The only thing I miss about that time is being able to live overseas, and actually get paid to be there. Nice work if you can get it.

Having decided to give medicine another go, I ended up at Columbia University in 1994, where I enrolled in a nondegree post-baccalaureate premedical program (and enjoyed the hell out of it). But I realized towards the end of my time there that learning the material in itself was what appealed to me; the physician's life didn't hold the same allure. So I took what I had learned and ended up working in the pharmaceutical industry for two years, but still felt restless.

Since I had some experience and a strong interest in computers, I escaped from the cube farm and transitioned to the IT field. In other words, I'm now a computer geek. And as long as I'm not required to wear a pocket protector, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I've finally found my calling.

Personality-wise, I'm an INTJ. Dunno what that means? Click here. And (as if you really care, Sparky) here's another.

Used to have a link to some pictures here, but personal homepages are narcissistic enough in themselves....
