Eight Auspicious Symbols

The Dharma Wheel symbolizes the teaching of Shakyamuni (the Noble Eightfold Path).  The Banner of Victory (sanskrit: dhvaja) symbolizes the victory of Buddhist Dharma over death and evil. The Lotus Flower (sanskrit: padma) symbolizes the purification of the Body, Speech, and Mind even when surrounded by temptations. The Right-Turning Conch (sanskrit: sankha) symbolizes the spreading of dharma and defeating of samsara.
The Endless Knots (sanskrit: shrivasta) symbolizes the infinite nature of dharma. The Golden Fish (sanskrit: matsya) symbolizes the emacipation of one's consciousness from samsara. The Vase (sanskrit: kulasa) symbolizes the perfect nature of dharma, longevity, and prosperity. The Protection Parasol (sanskrit: chhatra) symbolizes protecting beings from illness, negative forces, and obstacles of this life.
