Obviously, this page is about sharks. Since this my very first page, please pardon any mistakes I have made. If you do find any incorrect material please E-mail me. I hope that most of this is self-explanatory. I'm sorry that the shark with the links on it is rather small, I'm trying to make it bigger, without making it look like it was mutilated. Anyways, my very first page is devoted to, you guessed it- SHARKS!

SHARKS
There are over 350 known speicies of known sharks in the world, but only about 7 of them are known to attack humans.

ATTACKS
Nearly all shark attacks occur from mistaken identity or when the shark is provoked, or feels threatened.

DID YOU KNOW...

...that shark's skeletons are made entirely of cartilage, except for their teeth?

...that a Tiger shark can regurgitate its whole stomach when frightened?

...that a Great White shark's biting strength is equal to that of a human's?

...that a Tiger shark can detect blood in sea water at a level as small as half a million to one?

...that a Great White shark often pokes its head out of the water to sniff the air for the scent of its prey?

...that shark teeth were once used as razor blades by islanders in the Pacific?

...that shark skin was once used as sandpaper, and for the handles of swords because it wasn't slippery when wet?

...that the stripes on a Tiger shark's back become less distinct as it grows older?

...that although some sharks give birth to live young, others lay eggs?
