Duct Tape
"Duct tape is like The Force...It has a light side and a dark side and holds the universe together."
"If you can't fix it with duct tape, it's not broken."
This is a page dedicated to my obsession with duct tape. My good friend Chris started my obsession a few years ago when he gave me a 365 Days of Duct Tape calendar. From there the obsession slowly took over. I now have many kinds of duct tape. I have Duck brand duct tape, utility grade duct tape, which is thinner, yet sticks better and tears less easily. In addition to the gray duct tape, I also have camouflage duct tape. It is a Realtree type of pattern. I bought a shirt that says "I CAN FIX ANYTHING!...Where's the duct tape?"
Anytime anyone on my dorm floor needs to fix something with duct tape they come by my room because they know that I'm sure to have some duct tape around.
Just for your information, Southwest Missouri is the largest consumer of duct tape, and Wal-Mart is the leading seller of duct tape. Useless information.
A Few Thing's I've Done With Duct Tape
-
Momentarily duct taping "someone" to a tree. If you never heard the story behind that, you never will.
-
I took an old water gun that was missing a large chunk from the back. I cut up a bookmark and used scotch tape to reconstruct the missing section, then covered the entire gun in duct tape, so that it would stay together. An Uzi replica water gun looks much better in gray rather than pink.
-
In high school I wrapped a folder in duct tape because it was too big to fit in my locker without scraping up the edges of the folder. The duct tape protected the edges from being worn through.
-
Having success with the folder, I made two folders out of duct tape and two sheets of paper. The folders even had a pocket or two and worked very well.
-
I used cammo duct tape to make a temporary extension to a pocket on my cammo pants so that my night vision monocular would fit in it. The duct tape even survived the washer and dryer...oops.
-
Having lost(well I haven't found it yet) the water bottle to my green mountain bike, I used cammo duct tape to put edges on the holder that is installed on my bike so that a 20 oz bottle would not fall out when placed in the holder.
-
I fixed my ADIDAS coat zipper with duct tape and a paper clip. Works very well.
-
Part of the strap of my sandal broke so I pulled out the duct tape and now I can wear it again.
-
We were given frisbees as an advertisement for a local pizza company, but i didn't feel like advertising, and their frisbees were crap anyways, so I covered it in duct tape.
