This is what I did to make this button I Open a new image Go to [File] > [New] On the New Image Window: Width = 600 Pixels Height = 200 Pixels Resolution = 72 Pixels/Inch Background Color = White Image Type = 16.7 Million Colors(24 Bit) Click OK II Make a Working Copy of the Text Click on the Foreground Color Box {top box on the right} Choose Black as the foreground color Click the Text Tool Click at 290,95 Comic Sans MS Font Style Bold Size 120 Anti-alias Checked Center Checked Floating Checked Enter "EAGLE" or some other 5 letter word [Selections]>[Select None] [Images]>[Blur]>[Gaussian Blur] Radius = 6 Your image should look very fuzzy at this point. III Open a new image Go to [File] > [New] On the New Image Window: Width = 600 Pixels Height = 200 Pixels Resolution = 72 Pixels/Inch Background Color = White Image Type = 16.7 Million Colors(24 Bit) Click OK IV Make a Working Copy of the Text Click on the Foreground Color Box {top box on the right} Choose Black as the foreground color Click the Text Tool Click at 310,105 Comic Sans MS Font Style Bold Size 120 Anti-alias Checked Center Checked Floating Checked Enter "EAGLE" or whatever word you used [Selections]>[Select None] [Images]>[Blur]>[Gaussian Blur] Radius = 6 V Use Arithmetic to Difference the Two Images [Image]>[Arithmetic] [Function] Difference [Channels] All Channels Checked [Modifiers] Divisor = 1 Bias = 0 Clip Color Values Checked Click OK Text now has wierd lines in it VI Adjust Image [Colors]>[Negative Image] [Colors]>[Histogram Functions]>[Equalize] [Image]>[Noise]>[Despeckle] Repeat Despeckle two times VII Edit Out the Text and Colorize Click the Text Tool Click at 305,105 Comic Sans MS Font Style Bold Size 120 Anti-alias Checked Center Checked Floating Not Checked Enter "EAGLE" Click on the Background Color Box {bottom box on the right} Choose White as the background color [Selections]>[Invert] Press the Delete Key [Selections]>[Invert] [Colors]>[Colorize] to Taste Hue-125 Saturation 150 gave these results VIII Save The Image as a Transparent Gif [Edit] > [Copy] {crtl-c} [Edit] > [Paste] > [As New Image] {crtl-v} On the Layers Dialog Box Right Click Layer1 Click New Click OK Click on the Background Color Box {bottom box on the right} Choose the Background color of the Web page the image will be on. Click on the Flood Fill Tool Right Click to Paint with the Background Color Note: If you have a textured backgound pick a median color out of the texture. [Layers] > [Arrange] > [Move Down] or On the Layers Dialog Box Click and Drag Layer1 to the top of the list IX [Colors] > [Decrease Color Depth] to 256 colors [Colors] > [Set Palette Transparency] Set palette transparency to background color [File] > [Save] as gif
