Once upon a time there was a beautiful Princess, but this story is not about her, except for a little bit, about something that happened at her birthday party.

In the palace where the Princess lived, there was a Wizard, who looked fierce and fearsome, but was really quite nice. He had come to the King many years ago, and persuaded him that the kingdom needed a wizard, to protect them from enemies.

As it happened, the King was kind and fair, and everyone in the kingdom loved him, and the people were peaceful, so the country had no enemies. So the Wizard spent most of his time doing magic for fairs and royal parties, but always tried to look fierce and fearsome, just in case.

For the day of the Princess's birthday party, the Wizard had worked out a new magic trick. Baskets full of white balloons would be brought out, when released they floated up and turned to doves and flew away. He practiced until he had it just right. (Secret is that they really were doves all along, magic just made them look like balloons when carried in. As soon as they were released, the magic wore off, so everyone would see the doves fly away.) But at the party they turned to sea gulls instead, and snatched cake from all the guest's plates. Someone had switched baskets just before the trick. The Wizard knew someone had done it but who? The Wizard guessed that they were still around, but had made themselves invisible.

He knew that if they wanted to see the results of their trick, they would have to make at least their own eyes visible, so he looked around very carefully, and sure enough, he spotted a pair of eyes looking out from some bushes. But then they saw him looking, and they shut, and disappeared.

The Wizard thought for a long time about how to catch the trickster, and finally came up with a plan. feather trick to force her to use eyes, then he can see her and catch her witch has just moved there from a far country, but kept her arrival a secret. because everyone is mean to witches not here, but you have to let them know you are here Wizard will give a big welcome party announcement by cloud-writing by wizard colors by witch, then colors by both of them
