Everyone in the town said the new family was crazy to live on Spooky Hill. Or at least they would be crazy soon enough. The new family is us.
Girl in new family meets girl ghost from long ago. Her family used to live on the hill. She used to play in the woods. Her Grandpa had planted the trees long before she was born.
During Civil War the Army wanted their hill top for a fort, planned to cut down all the trees to build it.
Her family moved far away, but she kept coming back to guard her woods.
The Army kept getting lost on the hill, and finally gave up trying to use it.
Since then, lots of people had "plans" for Spooky Hill. So she still keeps coming back to guard her woods.
It has a nice view, if you like seeing things that aren't there. My very first one, first of a series of bedtime stories for my son.
Read a poem in progress.
