POWERSLAVE (also EXHUMED)
FOR SONY PLAYSTATION
[My apologies to everybody for taking so much time to get back to working on this page.]
Powerslave (sometimes also titled Exhumed) is a great 3rd person shooter. Game play is similar to Doom; excellent graphics and realistic-looking areas. Also has look up/down, jumping, and flying. The only copy of this I have ever found in a store was a single used copy. If you happen to find it somewhere (and like it after a rental), I recommend that you buy it right away.
One part of Powerslave is collection of the team dolls. In nearly all the levels, there are hidden artifacts that look like religious icons/ritualistic dolls. The dolls all have the face of one of the members of the Powerslave design team (23 dolls total). Collecting them gives you extra powers: the first 10 enable dolphin mode (swim faster, hold breath under water longer). Dolphin mode is required to collect the next four dolls, which will enable vulture mode. In vulture mode, pressing the jump button is just like flapping wings; press repeatedly to gain altitude and fly. Vulture mode is required to collect the remaining dolls. I personally don't like vulture mode, it is too awkward to use. Before this mode, with one of the standard artifacts, you could jump up and hover steadily, perfectly maintaining altitude. In vulture mode, it is up and down, up and down... which is hard to use in tight, dangerous spaces. I keep two game saves: one with vulture mode working and all the dolls found, and another with dolphin mode only, but no vulture mode. The second combination seems to be the best. See my corrected walkthrough to find the dolls (text file). Note #1: I don't know who the original author of this text is, but my thanks and credits go out to that person. Note #2: I have found another team doll walkthrough before, but it was all wrong (at least, for the version of Powerslave that I have). This team doll walkthrough here is 100% correct for the ©1996 version by Playmates Interactive Entertainment.
Various online walkthroughs and cheat code collections say there are several cheat codes such as level skip, and codes for enabling dolphin and vulture modes. They do not work! One walkthrough source I read says that there were cheats in the pre-release version, but not in the final version (Playmates Interactive confirmed this).
INCORRECT MYTH: I have read in several places about a "grenade-propelled jump". According to these descriptions, you jump up and hover (with one of the artifacts [Horus feather] enabling you to hover), look down, and throw a grenade straight down below you. Supposedly, the blast should propel you upwards, enabling you to get higher than jumping alone. Unless this is true for versions in other countries, THIS DOES NOT WORK. It will rapidly take away from your life power, and kill you if you keep it up. The only time you might need this is to get to places you would normally get to with "vulture mode" enabled, so it's best to wait until you get vulture mode working.
The link to a walkthrough that I used to have here doesn't work any more, so below is the text from that walkthrough file (again, I don't know who the original author was, and my thanks and credits go out to that person). I've also included quick links to different artifacts and equipment found in the walkthrough.

MY PREFERRED WEAPONS OF CHOICE TO MAXIMIZE EFFICIENCY OF WEAPON USAGE For most enemies: try to get them to hit each other in crossfire. They will attack each other until one dies. Ever see a fistfight between two mummies? *grins* Terrainian (Scorpion): For one or two, use the machete; for a whole group of them, use the amun bomb. It's fun to lure them into lava and watch them burn! Pirhana: Cobra staff or amun bomb (toss into water from above). Hawk, Anubis Zombie, Omenwasp, and Mummy: Flame thrower. The tiniest touch of flame will set them on fire, and they'll keep burning until they pop. If their fire goes out, light 'em back up! (Hawks die instantly in flame.) Bastet (cat woman): Sacred Manacle. A single blast at full charge should destroy them. Flame thrower can work, but the fire usually goes out when they teleport. (Am I alone in thinking it's cool that they run around nude?) Magmantis: Sacred Manacle. Again, a single blast at full charge destroys them. Ring of Ra works quite well too. Kilmaat Sentry (big white bug-looking alien): Flame thrower. Amum bomb can also set them on fire. The Bosses (Set, Selkis, and Kilmaatikahn): Hey...whatever works. For Kilmaatikahn, you'll need them all. Empty the machine gun and Ring of Ra. Use up your cobra staff and manacle next. Save the flame thrower for when you're being chased by the red worm (remember, small bursts of flame to set it on fire). [Don't use any amun bombs if you are going for the team dolls. A full load of them will be needed to get the doll back in Ramses' tomb.] Explosive pots: Slash twice with the machete, then shoot with pistol from a distance. Other breakable pottery/sculptures: Machete, or amun bomb for a group. Note that later in the game, some of them contain small explosives or cobra mists |
Tomb Of Ramses
You begin your one-man crusade against evil
at the tomb of King Ramses. Here you find
your first weapon, the Pistol. It may
not be much, but this is no time to be picky!
After splattering a few scorpions, make your
way through their entrails to the level below,
via the lift. When you get to King Ramses'
tomb you'll be visited by the ghost of the
good king himself. After a short 'help, you're
our only hope' sort of speech, enter the
newly opened door and walk to the camel.
Don't worry, it doesn't bite!
Karnak
At the beginning of this level you'll notice
a ledge directly behind you. At this stage
in the game you cannot jump high enough to
get up there. So forget about that for the
time being and continue into the corridor.
As you come out into a big open area you'll
see three doors (including the one you've
just exited) and a few flaming skull pots.
Shoot the latter to destroy part of the wall.
Enter through the newly opened hole in the
wall. Use the switch on the wall ahead of
you to reveal the Symbol Of War. Take
the Symbol, then destroy the other set of
skull pots to reveal another part of the
level. Take your first left, whilst
wasting a couple more scorpions, and go across
the bridge (water below) and through the
Symbol Of War door. Before you get to the
camel you'll notice a small gap in the wall.
On the other side you'll see another symbol
in a big open area - unfortunately you're
going to need the Sandals Of Ikumptet to
get to it. So just continue on and travel
on the camel.
Karnak Sanctuary
Arsenal: M-60
Artifact: Sandals Of Ikumptet
Follow the path round, through caverns and
corridors until you come to an intersection.
Ahead you can see the Symbol Of War door;
to your left stairs going upwards; to your
right is a short corridor leading to the
Symbol Of Time - but first you'll have to
kill a few scorpions (persistent little buggers!).
Once you have the Symbol Of Time, make your
way up the stairs and follow the corridor
round until you reach the Symbol Of Time
door. Go through and kill the guard. Continue
up the ramp and through the door. Follow
the corridor upwards to the end. Above
the Symbol Of Time door (where you entered
this area) you'll find the Symbol Of War
lying on a ledge. Back up, then run forward
and jump onto the ledge. Once you have the
Symbol Of War, return to its door and open
it. Kill the two guards inside (yes, try
and avoid those blue energy bolts too). Collect
the Symbol Of Earth. Exit the room
and head back up the stairs on your right.
Waste a few more of those annoying blue scorpions
en route to the Symbol Of Time door. Go through
it. Take a right and go back through the
door leading up. Just before the corridor
upwards, you'll come across another guard.
Kick his butt, then pick up the map from
the pots behind him. Continue up the
corridor and take the first left. Go across
the bridge and enter the Symbol Of Earth
door. Make sure you time your run to avoid
the fireballs, otherwise you'll be well done!
Kill the three guards in the room (don't
they ever learn?), then go down the tunnel.
Go left, jumping over the step. Activate
the switch. Exit back out of the tunnel.
Go to the now opened area on your left. Activate
the switch. Another area has opened up (right
of the tunnel as you exited). Go through
the corridor, whilst killing a few more guards.
Jump up the step and head right. You step
onto a platform which takes you upwards.
Pick up the Sandals Of Ikumptet, then jump
up to the ledge behind you. Walk into the
floating Pyramid and you will be transported
back to the Tomb Of Ramses. After another
brief message from the dead king (no, Elvis
doesn't live!), make your way to Karnak again.
Karnak
When you arrive, make your way to the big
open area. Blast the skull pots (again!)
and flick the switch to open the door which
hides the Symbol Of War. Collect the Symbol
Of War and make your way to the bridge leading
to its door. Jump off the bridge and down
into the water (hey, trust me!). Get
out of the water (there's only one way).
Let the platform take you upwards. Walk back
and take a running jump to the other side.
Go through the door and pick up the Symbol
Of Time. Now jump back across. Go through
the Symbol Of Time door. Jump up to the big
ledge and activate the switch. Now return
to the big open area (with the two small
doors, a big double door and hole in the
wall). As you go back through the rubble
(from when you destroyed those skull pots),
enter the door directly ahead of you. Go
down the steps and kill the scorpions. Collect
all power-ups from pots, then using your
newly gained Sandals, jump up round the edge
of the area to another part of the level.
Although you can go in the water, it's
not advisable until you get the Sobek Mask.
Instead go through the door and back to the
overworld map via the camel...giddy up, humpy!
Sobek Pass
Transmitter Piece 1
Continue round until you come to an apparent
dead end. In the far corner to the right
you'll find a hidden door. Destroy the pots
and walk through. You'll emerge in a smallish
area with a few killer birds flying around.
Pick them off one-by-one, then head forwards
and slightly to the right. Continue through
this part of the caves. You'll come
to a lava pit with a large rock pillar in
the middle of it. On a ledge to its left
is the Symbol Of War. Jump onto the pillar,
then the ledge, and collect the Symbol Of
War. Don't jump back down, just run and fall
onto the pillar, then finally back into the
cave. Ignoring the path to the right, return
back to the beginning of this cave (where
you first faced the birds). Now jump
up the ledges to continue round the cave
to the left. You'll eventually come to a
bridge over a lava pit. For God's sake, stay
away from the edge. Cross the bridge and
go through the Symbol Of War door. Jump up
the ledges and pick up the Symbol Of Time.
Go back onto the bridge. Look down to the
right: you can see a ledge and a switch.
Fall down onto the ledge and activate
the switch. Turn around, then fall down onto
the next platform. Jump onto the ledge round
the edge of this pit. Flick the switch, then
fall down onto the ledge leading into the
cave. Inside you'll find the first Transmitter
Piece. Get back onto the bridge, the same
way you came down. Now, remember where you
found the Symbol Of War?; there was a turn-off
just before. Well, that's where you want
to go. Timing is very important in
this section of the level as there are fireballs
coming at you in three directions. Continue
past the fireballs and enter the Symbol Of
Time door. Go through the doors and collect
the Symbol Of Earth. Go back out and enter
the Symbol Of Earth door. Exit via the camel.
Sobek Mountain Shrine
Artifact: Sobek Mask
Make your way to the Shrine's entrance. Before
going in, kill the guard waiting outside.
No reason, just fill him full of lead. As
you proceed forwards (killing whoever or
whatever gets in your way) you enter a big
room. Ahead of you, through a small hole,
you can see the Sobek Mask. But you have
more pressing matters, namely the three ugly
dudes throwing energy bolts at you. Once
you've severely beaten them, take the door
to the left (as you entered the room). Take
the next right and pick up the Symbol Of
War. Now return to the big room (where you
can see the Mask). Continue across the room
and enter the other door. Keep going until
you come to the Symbol Of War door. Enter.
Keep going forwards, past the Symbol Of Time
door and into a room with several pillars
in the middle of the room. Step onto the
switch on the floor to raise the first pillar.
Go under the raised pillar and wait for the
fireballs to destroy a section of the wall.
Time your run down the corridor, then activate
the switch at the end to stop the fireballs
and remove another pillar. Step onto the
greyish floor panel. This will give way and
fall down onto a bridge. You are now
in the room where you picked up the Symbol
Of War. Flick the switch and drop down. Go
through the now opened door. Blow up the
flaming pots to destroy a section of the
wall. You now see a lava pit with stone platforms.
Use the platforms to get across the pit.
Once again blow up some more flaming pots
to reveal a weakness in the building structure.
Go through and take the first bridge to the
left. Continue down to the end and pick up
the Symbol Of Earth. Go back along the bridge,
turn left and open the Symbol Of Earth door.
Go down to the end and pick up the Symbol
Of Time. As you go back, jump off the bridge
just before you get to the Symbol Of Earth
door. You should drop down by the Symbol
Of Time door. Go through the door and
collect the Sobek Mask. Although there is
a pit below it, it's only water in there;
and perfectly harmless if you have the Mask.
Swim through the underground tunnel until
you come out at the other end. You'll see
a transporter back to the Tomb Of Ramses.
Enter it. After another short speech from
King Ramses, exit the level and go back to
Karnak.
Karnak
Make your way to the water which was located
just before the camel - where you exited
on your previous visit. When you get there,
jump straight into the water - don't worry,
the Mask will allow you to breathe. Swim
through the underground tunnels, opening
doors and flicking switches until you reach
the end. Get out of the water and open the
door directly ahead of you. Kill everything
in the room (like you need to be told), then
go into the next room and pick up the Symbol
Of Power. Now avoid the fireballs and
exit the room. Walk up to the two pillars
directly ahead. They'll open up. Continue
through the next door (the big double door).
Go up the spiral stairs next to where you
came out. Go through the Symbol Of Earth
door. Follow the path round until you come
to a waterfall. Jump into the water (it's
not too cold!). Swim through the gap at the
opposite side of the waterfall. Follow the
tunnel round, killing any piranhas you meet
along the way. Get out of the water and ride
that camel.
Amun Mines
Arsenal: Amun Bomb
Transmitter Piece 2
As soon as you arrive, kill the guard hiding
just around the corner. Then make your way
down the lift. Shoot the scorpions and guard
which lie in wait for you. Take the first
right and kill all the enemies in this room.
There's a huge acid pit in the middle of
the room, so jump over it. Enter the room
on the other side. The Symbol Of Time
is hovering over a big drop: jump over the
gap and collect it. Make your way out of
this room, over the acid and back out into
the main corridor. Continue up the corridor
until you get to the end. In front of you
lies yet another acid pit (where's this stuff
coming from?). To your left is the Symbol
Of Earth door, to your right is the Symbol
Of Time door. Jump over the acid and enter
the Symbol Of Time door. Head right and go
down to the very end. Destroy the wall there,
aiming slightly to your right, to reveal
the second transmitter piece. Back
at the Symbol Of Time door, turn left (from
the door) and jump from one platform to the
other until you get the Symbol Of Earth.
Now return to the Symbol Of Time door. Jump
over to the other side and enter the Symbol
Of Earth door. Go inside and kill everything,
then pick up the Amun Bomb. Once you
have the Amun Bomb, jump right and go back
towards the start. Take the left up the short
steps and go right. You'll see a weakness
in the wall. Step back and throw an Amun
bomb to make a gap in the wall. Walk onto
the large platform: as soon as do, it'll
fall down, then fireballs will start coming
out of the walls - could things get any worse?
Do the following to disable the fireballs
and raise the platform: 1. Look to where
the door is (not the one which you came through).
2. Now press the switch on the wall to the
right of it. 3. Turn around and press the
switch ahead of you. 4. Press the switch
on the wall to your left. 5. Activate the
final switch (underneath the door) to raise
the platform. You now enter a large
room. There's water in the middle, a path
and bridge round the edge. Kill the guard
and giant wasps first, then pick off the
piranha fish in the water. Now jump into
the water and go through the tunnel. You'll
find a switch at the end. Activate the switch,
then return to the room. The previously closed
door underwater is now open. Get out of the
water at the end of this tunnel and step
on the switch to lower a pillar in the room
next door. Now go back to the surface, get
out of the water and go up the wooden bridge
and through the door. Take your next right,
follow this round and you'll come to the
room with the Symbol Of Power. Take it. Exit
the room. Now jump up to the corridor
on your right. Keep going until you come
to a big room: the path may stop, but you
can still jump over to the ledge on the other
side. Go through the Symbol Of Power door.
Follow the corridor round. It'll take you
to a ledge, with a platform only a jump away.
Jump across to the next platform, then follow
it around. Run and fall onto the ledge below.
Follow this round past the fireballs whilst
using Amun Bombs to destroy weak walls that
stand in your path. When you get to the last
one you'll see a weak wall ahead of you,
separated by a lake of acid. Use your Amun
Bomb to destroy and reveal the camel. Now
jump over to it and exit this level.
Set Palace
Transmitter Piece 3
Straight from the start you'll be attacked
by those annoying giant wasp creatures, not
to mention a scorpion or five! When you've
finished this bloodfest and collected all
the power-ups, jump up onto the highest ledge
(next to steps) and activate the switch.
The door to the palace opens up and a new
bad guy is revealed. This new mummy menace
fires red cobra mists at you (different colour
version to the Cobra Staff). The best way
to defeat him is to charge towards him with
guns blazing. This should kill him before
he can get a few shots off. Around
the next corner you'll find yet another mummy;
these guys are everywhere! If you take a
look below you'll see a ledge. Now, although
you can take a gander around the lower level,
all you will find are power-ups. If you need
them, then by all means wander around. However,
if you're in no immediate need of relief
(?), don't bother. Continue along the
upper level of this part until you reach
the end - another mummy will appear. Jumping
is a very important aspect in this stage.
So take a short run-up and jump over to the
other side. Follow this round. You pass a
window in which you can see the ever shiny
Symbol Of Power. After jumping over
the next gap you'll walk into some fireballs
coming at you. Quickly dart into the gap,
then time your run round the corner. You'll
notice that the wall ahead (gap to the left)
looks weak, in the sense that it's off-colour.
Use an Amun Bomb to destroy the wall. Walk
to the edge and look down. You can see a
platform going up and down, up and down,
up and? you get the point. Fall onto it as
it reaches the top, then turn around and
activate the switch on the wall. Jump back
up and turn around. Now jump over the gap
and enter the newly opened door. Pick up
the Symbol Of Power. Jump back across the
gap, then go right across the next gap. Kill
the scorpions and collect the power-ups,
but don't enter through the Symbol Of Time
door just yet. Instead, aim a Amun Bomb just
to the right of (and slightly higher than)
the moving platform. This will destroy a
weak point in the wall. Now jump across to
the platform on the other side. Time your
jump so that you land as it reaches the top
of its path. Go right through the rubble,
jump across to the other side and pick up
the third piece of the Transmitter. Now go
back the way you came and enter the Symbol
Of Power door. Go through door to the
right. Collect the Symbol Of Time. The switch
on the floor will enable the fireballs, which
in turn destroy the wall behind you to reveal
more power-ups (including one behind another
weak wall) plus a couple of giant wasps and
a mummy. Now head through the Symbol Of Time
door. Be careful as there are three mummies
behind the door lying in wait for you, the
sneaky devils! Once you've killed the
mummies, go to the ledge. Ahead of you is
a closed door. To the left of you is the
switch that opens it; but only for a brief
moment of time. This next section is tough.
You have to jump from one platform to another
whilst activating any switches you come across.
Why? Because you need to get through this
section to open the door which leads to the
camel. The only thing you need to remember
on this section is: don't spend too long
on the platforms, as most of them fall down.
Other than that it's quite straightforward.
Activate switches to continue. Then when
you get to the last door (which takes you
back to where you started), quickly go right
and jump over the gap to the camel. Better
be quick to get through the door before it
closes, or you'll need to go through all
that again!
Set Arena
Artifact: Shawl Of Isis
The first boss stage. God only knows what this creature may be,
but what ever it is, it's big, mean and butt
ugly! From the start, just follow the path
round until you reach the arena. Drop down
into it and open the door: if it's locked,
try the other one. The door will open and
the freak will come out roaring. Exhaust
all your M-60's ammo, then switch to the
Pistol and Amun Bombs. First, just
move back and forth whilst shooting him with
your M-60. Then when he jumps, stop firing
and move back (or forwards under him). When
he lands, begin shooting the crap out of
him again. As soon as he fires those weird-looking
two-legged things, keep strafing left/right
using the L1 and R1 buttons. Use your Amun
Bombs to cause some more damage on the evil
fiend, and your pistol (or any M-60 ammo
you have left) to take out the small homing
creatures. When he's dead, pick up
the Shawl Of Isis. Turn to your left, then
jump over the gap to the pyramid. You'll
need to release the jump button in mid-flight,
then press and hold it again to use the Shawl
to float into the pyramid chamber. You'll
return to the Tomb Of Ramses. Listen to the
king, then exit using the camel.
Amun Mines
Upon your return to the Amun Mines you'll
be greeted once again by a guard. Kill him,
then make your way down. Take the first right.
Go left into the poison-acid swamp room.
Jump over the swamp and enter the room on
that side: the one with the Symbol Of Time
floating over a deep pit. Don't bother with
the Symbol; fall down into the pit and use
the Shawl Of Isis (hold jump) to float down
and land safely. Exit via the camel.
Cavern Of Peril
Arsenal: Flame-thrower
Follow the route round, killing any pests
(flying or otherwise) that might get in your
way. Next to the poison-acid waterfall you'll
notice a couple of flaming pots: shoot these
to destroy the wall behind. The Flamethrower
is now revealed. Take this big hot beauty
and blow the next couple of pots up. Now
float down into the deep pit. Get your weapons
ready as you'll be greeted by giant wasps
and mummies. Ahead of you is a door with
an Egyptian drawing on it. Enter the
cave to the left. The cave open ups inside.
On the other side you'll notice the Symbol
Of Power door. There are two platforms in
the pit, with a poison swamp below them.
Float down onto the lowest one. Then jump/float
down to the bridge. Time your jump to the
next platform by waiting for it to go halfway
up, then jump/float onto it. Go up the elevator
and activate the switch. Now go back the
way you came out of this cave. Time your
jumps at the apex of your platform's path.
Now go through the cave to the right
of the door; the one with the Egyptian drawing.
You come to another poison swamp pit. Kill
the mummies on the other side using Amun
Bombs. Now look down the edge of the cliff
and you should see a platform. Float down
onto it and flick the switch located on the
wall. Jump back up. Then, using the platform
in the middle of the pit, jump up to the
other side. Better be quick as the platform
falls into the pit if you stay on it for
too long. Follow the cavern round,
going up the platform next to the waterfall.
Walk against the flow of water up the small
tunnel. To the left a mummy will appear.
Kill it, then walk onto the platform behind
it. The platform will fall down. Go through
the door and activate the switch. Now go
back to the platform and press the switch
next to the door. The platform will take
you back up. Exit back out of this cave section
and go back to the door; yes the one with
the Egyptian drawing. Now go through
the door. If you'd been in here earlier you'd
have noticed that there were doors which
were locked. Now they're open, enabling you
to collect the Symbol Of Power. Leave this
room and make your way back to the Symbol
Of Power door (caves to the left of this
door). Go through the door and you'll find
the camel.
Nile Gorge
Transmitter Piece 4
After taking care of those mummified pests,
float/fall down into the water below. You'll
probably come across a couple of deadly piranha
fish, so cut them into shark bait with a
few swift blows from your razor-sharp machete.
Take the platform upwards, then go
left past the Symbol Of War door. Just up
on the right a wall will vanish, revealing
something hideous! - Ryan in a pair of shorts
perhaps? No, a few of those ugly flying giant
wasp things come hurtling towards you, not
to mention a couple of creepy mummies. When
you've finished changing your underwear (again!),
kill these foul beasts, and continue on until
you come out into the open. Below you
is some water, and across the water is the
Symbol Of Earth door. As you look across
the water, towards the door, you'll notice
an area to the right of it and down a little.
Next to a lantern you'll find the switch
which activates the door behind you (on the
upper area opposite the Symbol Of Earth door).
Quickly jump across the water and go through
the door to collect the Symbol Of Time. Press
the switch in front to reopen the door. You'll
find the Symbol Of Time door down the other
end of this corridor (past the lift which
you came up in). Just as you arrive
you'll be greeted by a bundle of linen-wearing
psychos hell-bent on killing you. Go through
the door. This is where the Shawl Of Isis
comes in handy. Now jump off the edge. Use
the Shawl to float around the corner to the
right and onto the moving platform. Destroy
the flame skull pots, then flick the switch
to open the door beneath the surface, in
the underground tunnels below. Jump
into the water below and swim through the
tunnel beneath the platform. There you'll
find three piranha fish who have just come
through the open door. Behind you is a light
patch in the wall: this is a weak spot. Use
an Amun Bomb to destroy the wall and reveal
the fourth Transmitter piece. Now turn
around and go through the newly opened door.
This corridor will take you left, then directly
up to the surface; and a new area to explore.
Stay in the water. Swim around to the left
until you find the pillar with the flame
skull pots on top. At the bottom of this
pillar - against the wall - you'll find the
Symbol Of Power. Pick it up. Now return
to the Symbol Of Time door. Opposite the
door, on the other side of the water, you
can see the Symbol Of Power door. Jump over
the gap and go through the door. Now continue
forwards, through the next door, following
the platform as it turns left. Walk to the
end of the platform and jump off; then, using
the Shawl, float around the corner to the
right and into a small area above the water.
Just watch out for the giant wasps. If you
don't make it (due to the wasps getting in
the bloody way), swim back towards the door
you came through - killing any piranha fish
en route - and climb up the steps along the
wall. Now kill the wasps and try again. Follow
this passage round and collect the Symbol
Of War. Now jump/float back onto the platform
and return to the Symbol Of Power door. Jump
back across the gap, go through the Symbol
Of Time door, then make your way down the
corridor to the Symbol Of War door. There's
a mummy waiting for you inside, so quickly
remove it. Before floating down the hole,
flick the switch next to it. Then fall/float
down whilst attempting to avoid the fireballs.
Follow the winding corridor (past the sealed
door) into the room with three pillars and
a switch in front of the middle one. Activate
the switch to lower the pillar; thus opening
up yet another area to explore. Follow
the path round (the previously sealed door
is now open): continue through until you
get to a seemingly dead end. At the end there
is a platform which takes you upwards. Now
go through the door (you're now back to the
beginning where you jumped into the water).
Ride the platform upwards. Now go through
the Symbol Of Time door, then the Symbol
Of Power door. Don't go through the next
door, instead look to your left. Destroy
the flame skull pots (if you haven't already
done so) then jump from that pillar to the
new area. Although you could swim to
the other side, it's easier to jump to the
next platform, then float down. Now jump
across each of the two gaps and press the
switches to lower two more pillars. Next
dive into the water, swim under one bridge,
then climb back up to the now 'free of pillars
area'. Go left (yes, towards the fireballs!)
and whilst dodging in and out of this fiery
menace, stand on the switch to lower yet
another pillar. Go back through both the
Symbol Of Power & Time doors, past the
Symbol Of War door until you come to the
Symbol Of Earth door. There's a tunnel
in the water below the Symbol Of Earth door.
Swim through. Pick up the Symbol Of Earth.
Swim back through the tunnel. Then jump over
to, and enter, the Symbol Of Earth door.
Jump over the next gap and round the next
bend you'll find the camel to end this rather
long and tedious level.
Thoth Treasure Reliquary
Artifact: Protective Anklets
Enter the Treasure Reliquary and continue
through the door ahead of you; killing all
scorpions. If you look down you can see the
Protective Anklets. However, at this stage
it's 'look but can't touch'. Activate the
switch on the far wall. Now go back out of
the room. To your right is the Symbol Of
Time door. Unfortunately you can't go that
way yet. So instead go left and continue
down the passage.(the switch removed the
sealed door). Whilst killing any scorpions
which might accidentally get in the way of
your M60, continue down the corridor and
through the next door. A new enemy is revealed:
the vicious cat woman. She's one dangerous
customer. Best way to deal with her: keep
on the move, use either your M60 or Flamethrower
and if you hear her coming, turn and fire.
On the arch of the wall you'll find
a switch: press this to remove a section
of the wall behind you, revealing the coveted
Symbol Of Time. Now go back the way you came
to the Symbol Of Time door and enter it.
Again, kill the scorpions en route. When
you go through the next door (after the Symbol
Of Time door), be prepared for a barrage
of attacks from those pussies! After a few
(hundred no doubt!) rounds of ammo they should
die. At the end of this room you'll
be able to see the Symbol Of Earth, but you
won't be able to reach it due to two huge
pillars blocking you (go figure!). Enter
the door next to it. Keep going through one
corridor after the other. At the end of a
double room you'll come to a door. Behind
it is a platform which rises upwards. Get
on it. This will take you to a lava pit.
Jump across and float to the other side where
you'll collect the Symbol Of Power. Kill
the two cat women with an Amun Bomb, or two.
Then make your way back to the Symbol Of
Time door. As you pass through the
Symbol Of Time door, turn left and walk all
the way down to the end. Now turn left into
this last corridor. Follow this down, turning
right at the end. At the end of this room
is the Symbol Of War door. Enter it. Keep
going past the Symbol Of Earth door and onto
the door at the end of this giant room. Behind
it is another platform which rises upwards
(you'll also notice a force-field, but you
need the Kilmaat Sceptor for this bit). Step
on and enjoy the ride up. Throw an
Amun Bomb onto the floor just before the
lava room. The floor is weak here, thus enabling
you to blow it up. Float down. Just ahead
is another drop. This takes you to the Symbol
Of Earth. Float down, collect the symbol
and flick the switch to get out. Now go back
through the Symbol Of Time door, then the
Symbol Of War door until finally you reach
the Symbol Of Earth door. Go through. Et
voilą! The Protective Anklets are now yours
- suit you sir. Go through the dooor
to the left and into the pyramid transporter.
You're once again transported to the Tomb
Of Ramses. The King then tells you to go
to Heket Marsh. But to get there, you need
to return to Karnak Sanctuary first.
Karnak Sanctuary
On return to the Sanctuary, your task here
is much quicker and easier than before. Like
the last time (refer to previous visit to
Karnak Sanctuary if necessary), get the Symbol
Of Time. Now head to, and through, the Symbol
Of Time door. Turn right. You'll see a poisonous
swamp heading in a direction you haven't
been able to go - until now, that is. Follow
the swamp round to the camel. Just before
the camel you'll notice some steps going
up to the bridge above the swamp. You'll
find a full weapon and health power-up.
Heket Marsh
Arsenal: Cobra Staff
The moment you arrive you'll be greeted by
a couple of scorpions. Dispose of this blue
menace, then make your way through the archway
towards the green poisonous swamp. There
are three doors. The one on the right leads
to the Symbol Of War door. The Symbol Of
Time door lies straight ahead, but the huge
pillar in the middle is blocking it. The
door to the left is the path you need to
take. Follow the corridor round, down
and out into a much larger area. To your
right you can see three Symbols. Float down
to the lowest one (the Symbol Of Time). Then
jump back up. Now go up the slope and follow
the path back to the Symbol Of Time door.
Enter it. Directly in front of you is the
next addition to your already powerful arsenal:
the Cobra Staff. Pick it up, then blast the
crap out of the scorpions and giant wasps
which are out for your blood. In the
middle of the room there's a hole in the
ground. If you look down you can see a ledge
with a transmitter piece behind a force-field.
You'll need to return later to retrieve it.
Instead just drop down into the water and
head towards the switch - which operates
the door ahead. If you're close enough you
can see some dry land above the door. So
what are you waiting for? Swim up there.
Here you'll find the Symbol Of Power. Pick
it up. Then get back into the water and press
the switch to activate the door. Swim through
the newly opened door and back to the surface.
Only now you're back to the starting point.
Go through the door to the left again.
Follow this route until you get to the Symbol
Of Power door. Once through the door, kill
every living thing - come to think of it,
shoot everything, alive or dead - then open
the door next to the Symbol of Power door.
Two cat women will come alive. After waxing
both pussies, press the switch to unseal
the door up to your right. Follow the route
round until you come to the Symbol Of War.
Now float down to the ledge on your left.
Go up the slope and back the way you came
(yes, again!). This time go past the
Symbol Of Time door and into the next one
(opposite the door you just exited). Follow
the path round (it's circular) until you
come to an outer part of the wall that has
a large brown wooden square patch. This part
is weak, so throw an Amun Bomb at it to blow
it apart. Now go through and enter the Symbol
Of War door. Turn right and enter the
door at the bottom of the slope. Now jump,
then float over the swamp (you can walk on
the swamp, but every drop of energy counts)
to the land in the area on your left. Keep
going down corridors and through doors until
you come to a largish area. There is one
massive piece of land in the middle. Either
side of it are two platforms with switches
on both sides. Between them is a lower path
which goes into the massive land. Jump onto
this. You'll be attacked by two more cat
women. Kill them. Now, facing the two flames,
jump up to the platform on your right and
flick the switch; this opens the door above
the flames. Now jump across to the other
platform and activate the other switch; this
raises another door (temporarily). Jump up
to the platform (where the five giant wasps
came out of) and get your arse moving down
that corridor. This path leads to the
open area which you entered originally with
the Symbol Of Time. Jump, then float from
this ledge to the other ledge on the other
side of the area. Keep at a steady pace along
this path until it ends. Then just jump to
the next ledge. Go left, then jump over to
the highest door. At the end of this path
you come to the Symbol Of Earth. Pick it
up. Then float down to the corridor at the
other side of this area. Turn left and go
up the slope and towards the Symbol Of Time
door. Enter. Ahead of you is the Symbol Of
Earth door. Go through to complete this stage.
Sunken Palace Of Khnum
There's only three things that can harm you
on this stage. The first is piranha fish,
but a few swift swipes of your Machete and
they're taken care of. The second is mines:
either use your Amun Bombs or Cobra Staff
to set them off, otherwise don't stay around
them too long. The third is simply having
enough air: if you're running low, get to
the nearest surface. See, no real problems.
You start opposite the Symbol Of Power.
To your left (under the surface) is a room
which leads to the Symbol Of Time door. On
your right (under the surface as well) is
a room which leads to the Symbol Of Earth
door. Swim to the room on your left. Now
go through the door opposite the Symbol Of
Time door. This takes you into a large area
with plenty of piranha and mines. Directly
below is an archway. Enter it. Note:
If you require air, go to the surface if
possible, then follow walkthrough. This
passage will take you left, then upwards
where you will find the Symbol Of Time. Now
go back the way you came, and this time enter
the Symbol Of Time door. Whilst either blowing
the mines or speedily moving past them, go
down into the next chamber. Here you'll find
the Symbol Of War door. On the wall to the
right of it there is a weak patch. It's easy
to spot. Use an Amun Bomb to destroy it and
swim through. Swim upwards to take in some
air. Then swim to the bottom and go through
the tunnel. There's a long passage with plenty
of piranha fish and a few mines to boot!
Swim to the end and collect the Symbol Of
Earth. Now return back to where you started
the stage. As you exit the Symbol Of
Time door, turn left and head across to the
underwater room opposite your current position.
In here is the Symbol Of Earth door. Enter
it. Follow it round two left turns, then
up and out of the water. Go through the door
and collect the Symbol Of War. Now
make your way back to the Symbol Of Time
door. Go through and down. Enter the Symbol
Of War door. You have to be quick in here
as the doors close fast. Proceed upwards
and collect the Symbol Of Power which rests
above a chunk of rock. There are two high
open doors which are the only way out. But
you'd better get moving as they will be closed
shortly. Go through the one on the right,
which takes you upwards to some dry land.
Follow this passageway round, through the
door and out onto a ledge above some water.
There should be a full weapon power-up in
front of you. Now jump into the water and
go through the door in the far right corner
near the surface. This will take you back
to the starting point. Just jump over to
the Symbol Of Power door and follow this
small route round to the camel.
Desert Slave Camp
You begin with a variety of doors to choose
from but, you guessed it, only one of them
opens. Enter the nearest door on your left.
But be careful: there are scorpions on both
sides of the door. Carry on through the next
room and into to a large open area with a
visible switch on the floor. This raises
the long rectangular door behind it and releases
three deadly cat women. Once you've put these
kitties to bed, pick up the full weapon power-up;
if you need it, that is. Now back up
a little and go down the corridor to your
left. You'll come to another switch and door.
Behind this one are three more cat women,
a giant flying pest, and the Symbol Of Power.
After a few more bullets have ripped through
the flesh of your enemies, pick up the Symbol
Of Power and return to the starting point.
As you come out of the door and back
into the starting room, head left around
the circular building in the middle. You'll
find an entrance leading into it. Enter the
room and continue down the slope and through
the Symbol Of Power door. Once inside,
look down into the lower area. You'll see
a whole bunch of scorpions trying to reach
you - ha, the little blighters can't! Back
up and drop an Amun Bomb onto them - ka-boom!
This is where you have to be quick. Turn
around and go down the long slope. Press
the switch, then rush back up the slope and
into the room ahead of you. Now flick this
switch to open the door leading to the Symbol
Of Time (door on left as you entered through
Symbol Of Power door). Once you've
made it through, walk forwards and pick up
the Symbol Of Time. Keep walking forwards.
Activate the switch in front of you to open
the door ahead. Behind the two bloodthirsty
felines lies the switch to open the door
through which you came. Now head back out
of this building, via the Symbol Of Power
door. Once out, turn right and enter the
Symbol Of Time door. After passing
through another room, you'll come out into
the open again. Get your weapons ready as
there are four cat women roaming about, not
to mention all those scorpions and giant
wasp things. In the far right-hand corner
is a wooden door. Use an Amun Bomb to destroy
the door, leaving the path accessible behind
it. Follow the path into a small room. Once
you've killed the flying pests and scorpions,
make your way up the steps to the left of
the room and through the door at the top.
Jump across to the other side and go
through the doorway. Continue straight ahead
across the crossroads bridge section and
through the next door. Step on the switch
to lower the large pillar in the next room.
Now exit the room and fall/float down to
the ground. Go through the door directly
below the one you've just exited from. Look
up, then jump through the gap and up into
the room above. Now go through the door into
the next room (in the room above this one
you'll find a full health power-up). Continue
through the next door into another room.
Now jump up through the hole into the room
above. Keep going through the door in this
room and into the next. There you'll face
another two cat women. Use an Amun Bomb to
destroy a weak point in the wall (the opposite
side of where you entered the room). Jump
up through this newly demolished area into
the room above. Finally, this is the last
door to go through. Then float down onto
the switch below to disengage the fireballs.
The next trick is to jump, then float around
the corner on the far left (the area where
you collected the Symbol Of Power). Jump,
then float to the far left pillar edge, then
jump forwards around the wall, then back
onto the corridor against the wall. I
know what you're thinking: "There's
two thin pillars in the way!" In response
to that obvious observation, might I remind
you that I'm writing the guide, thank you!
By walking up to the pillars, you'll engage
a number of chain-reactions. First, five
scorpions will come out of the wall after
you. Second, the large pillar (from which
you jumped) has disappeared. Not to mention
a door. This has revealed two switches (one
for each thin pillar). Flick both switches
to remove the two thin pillars for a short
time. Now step on the floor switch to remove
the pillars surrounding the Symbol Of Earth.
Next step is to return to the initial starting
point and then enter the Symbol Of Earth
door. Continue through the next room.
Walk all the way to the end, then onto the
floor switch to reveal a panel to the right
of the door you entered. Press this switch
to remove the two doors either side of the
room (left and right of floor switch). Unfortunately
it also initiates a whole load of fireballs.
Make your way past these to the other end
(by the floor switch). Then either go left
or right up the slope to one of the newly
opened doors. Continue along here, then jump
across and collect the Symbol Of War. Exit
into and through the next room. Jump across
to the crossroads bridge. Walk on ahead through
the Symbol Of War door and finally jump onto
the camel. Yee-haa! Giddy up.
Selkis Path
Make your way up the slope towards the pillars.
To the left of the slope edge is a mummy
- kill him. On the far right is anotherr mummy:
use the Cobra Staff a couple of times to
get rid of it. Head over to the far right
corner and turn left. Before you get the
chance to activate the switch, two cat women
will come alive. Once you've taken care of
these, make your way to the other side and
press the second switch; which triggers the
central pillar to lower. (Warning: There's
another mummy and two cat women over there
guarding the switch.) This enables you to
float down to the lower level. Continue
through the tunnel until you come to a lava-filled
area. Kill any mummies hanging about, then
jump over to the tunnel on your right. Kill
the cat women in here (Jesus, these things
breed like rabbits!). Pick up the Symbol
Of Power, then exit this cave and jump back
across the lava to your left. Ignore
the island on your right - instead jump straight
ahead and enter the Symbol Of Power door.
Behind here lies an enormous lava pit - one
false move and you're toast! Take a leap
of faith to the square platform ahead of
you. Oh, and you'll need to float from the
high point of your jump; otherwise you'll
be barbecued. Now jump around the corner,
before floating down to the Symbol Of War.
Exit this room (via Symbol Of Power door).
Jump across the lava to the island,
then proceed to jump left around to the Symbol
Of War door. Wait for the fireballs to stop
for a brief moment, then run down the slope
to an Egyptian chamber. Continue through
the door at the end of this room. Now jump
up onto the platform. Then, whilst avoiding
the fireballs, activate the floor switch.
This temporarily opens the door behind you
(around the corner on the right, as you face
the lower platform). Go through the
newly opened door and press the switch at
the end. This temporarily opens the door
at the opposite end on the other side of
the room. So jump, then float quickly to
get through the door in time. This short
passage will take you up to the bridge in
the Egyptian room. Once you've walked across
the switch, both bridge doors will open for
a short time. Quickly move across the bridge
and collect the Symbol Of Earth. Now exit
the room and walk back across the bridge.
Then drop off the bridge and activate the
switch on your right; which in turns opens
the other door (opposite side, other end).
Proceed through here to the Symbol
Of Earth door. The next bit may seem tricky,
but it is indeed a stroll in the park. Float
down to the large island (surrounded by lava).
Then position yourself to look down a little.
Now jump, then float to the small piece of
land on the edge of this lava fall. All you
need to do now is jump, then float to the
right, and then wherever the route takes
you. Try not to touch the edges, this'll
just slow you down. When you eventually land
at the end, kill the two mummies then exit
using the camel.
Selkis Burrow
Artifact: Kilmaat Scepter
Make your way through doors and chambers.
You'll eventually come to the burrow; and
by God it's a big one. Float down to the
bottom. Now it's time for a little hide,
seek, maim, murder. Whilst wandering about
the joint you'll find the occasional weak
wall - which, when destroyed, reveals power-ups;
both health and weapons. When it comes
to dealing with the Selkis itself, well,
what can I say except: duck, weave, run,
scream (run away! run away!). Only kidding.
Seriously, you should use 'dash, shoot, retreat'
tactics. Go straight at him using one weapon
after the other. Remember to avoid those
red cobra mists though! Once he's dead, scorpions
will start appearing. Kill these blue buggers
for extra power-ups. There's even a full
weapon power-up around here somewhere. Now
exit the level, collecting the Scepter as
you go. You'll return once again to the King.
Listen to him carefully, then proceed back
to Heket Marsh.
Heket Marsh
Transmitter Piece 5
Like your previous visit, collect the Symbol
Of Time first. Once you have it, go through
the Symbol Of Time door. After killing all
the creatures in here, float down and forwards
into the pit in the middle of the room. In
here you find a force-field: just walk through
it (you have the Sceptor which nullifies
it) and the fifth transmitter piece will
be yours. Now return to the camel.
Sobek Mountain Shrine
Enter the shrine and go through the door
on your left. At the end of this corridor
you'll find a force-field. Now that you have
the Kilmaat Sceptor, you can pass through.
Kill the guard inside and exit via the camel.
Magma Fields
Arsenal: Ring Of Ra
Transmitter Piece 6
Follow the route round. The path will take
you over the lava and towards a sealed door.
To the right of the door there is a ledge
with four statues on it. Destroy the statues
and collect the bonuses. Turn around, then
float down to the land just above the lava.
Here you'll find a switch which opens the
door to the left of it. Flick the switch,
then go through the door and pick up the
Ring Of Ra. Watch out for the Magmantis (the
big ugly lava beast). When the screen shakes,
it means he's popped up and is about to launch
a couple of fireballs at you. Go through
the door in front of you. Let loose the power
of Ra onto those scorpions and wasps, then
watch the blood count shoot straight up.
Against the wall is a switch which opens
the door at the top leading out of this area.
When you come out into the open again
you'll see a lava river flowing down on your
right. Above it is a platform rising up and
down. To your left is another platform. Jump
from platform to platform, up and round until
you get to an indoor room with the sixth
transmitter piece in it. Another Magmantis
is around somewhere, so be careful. Next
step is to return back down the lava river
and then continue up the path. You'll come
to yet another locked door. To your right
on a lower ledge you'll find another switch.
Float down and activate it. Quickly jump
onto the higher ledge to your right, then
dash through the door and into another corridor.
In the middle of this next area lies
a giant volcanic crater. And believe it or
not, you have to jump into it. Float down
and follow the fast-flowing lava river round
until you get to the end - which, incidentally,
is a massive fall through a thin lava-covered
tunnel. You'll find yourself on a island
surrounded by lava. There are three doors:
two reveal full weapon and health power-ups
while the other leads to the exit. Each door
is opened up by killing each of the three
Magmantis monsters. The best weapon to use
when attacking them is the M-60. Finally,
make your way down the final corridor and
through the door and onto the camel.
Horus Peak
Artifact: Horus Feather
Ahead of you is a bridge with full weapon
and health power-ups, although you can't
get up there until later on in the level.
Instead jump, then float to the lower platform
just beyond it. From here jump up onto the
wooden platform, then jump and float to the
door ledge. Upon entering the door
you'll be confronted by a couple of Magmantises.
Once you've disposed of those fire-breathing
menaces, walk round the ledge to your left,
then activate the switch to raise the door
on the other side. Flick the switch in the
other room to remove the pillars next to
the first switch. Now go back across the
lava, past the other switch, and pick up
the full weapon power-up. Then flick the
third switch in this short series of switches
to open the door to your upper-left; which
leads out of this area to a dodgy wooden
platform bridge. Better be quick, the door
doesn't stay open for long. Now run
across the wooden bridge as it collapses
behind you, and take a giant leap onto the
square platform moving up and down in front
of you. If you don't make it onto the platform,
retreat back along the wooden platforms (now
on the lava), then press the switch on the
ledge to re-erect the wooden platforms and
try again. On the other side of the
lava fall is another moving platform. Jump
at the apex of the one you're on across to
the other side; you'll need to float to avoid
the lava. Now jump and float across to the
next door. Go through the door onto the wooden
floor. The floor will give way, leading you
to another part of the level. Whilst
skilfully avoiding the fireballs, Magmantises,
and lava, jump onto the left corner platform
and activate the switch. Then turn around
and jump onto the nearest moving platform
(directly in front of you). Then jump again
onto the corner ledge ahead of you. Press
the switch here, which opens the door next
to the room you came through. Float down
into that room and flick the switch. Now
make your way back up to the previous ledge.
Turn around and jump onto the moving platform
on your slight right. From here jump back
the way you came onto the next moving platform,
finally working your way up to the ledge
on your left. Collect the power-ups,
then jump onto yet another bloody moving
platform, which leads up to the door out
of this part. Walk off in any direction.
When you come to a section of steps, jump
up from them into the Egyptian chamber above.
In here you'll find the final artifact, the
Horus Feather - hurrah! Exit the chamber
and go across the platform into another door.
Using the Horus Feather you'll be able to
levitate across the huge gap and into the
pyramid transporter. Upon yet another visit
to the Tomb Of Ramses, make your way to the
Deserted Slave Camp for the seventh piece
to the transmitter.
Deserted Slave Camp
Transmitter Piece 7
As on your previous visit, collect the Symbol
Of Time, then proceed and enter the Symbol
Of Time door. Continue through (like before),
killing everything in your way. Three wasps
will come at you through a doorway on the
other side of this area. To the far
left of the doorway you'll find two holes
in the wall. Use an Amun Bomb to widen the
gap, then proceed to the left, then round
until you get to the seventh transmitter
piece. Now exit via the camel you came here
on.
Thoth Treasure Reliquary
Make your way to the Symbol Of Power door
(you'll need to follow the text for the previous
visit to acquire the appropriate keys). Go
through the door and walk all the way to
the end. This next door takes you through
onto a lift. Once at the top, turn around
and make your way to the end of this room.
As you turn to the right (just after the
weak floor which took you to the Symbol Of
Earth) you'll come to a long room filled
with lava. With the aid of the feather, make
your way down to the end. Near the end on
your left there is a weak spot in the wall.
Well guess what: blow a hole and it's onto
the camel.
Canyons Of Chaos
Arsenal: The Sacred Manacle
Transmitter Piece 8
At the start of the level you have two possible
directions; head left. Keep going left until
you come to a dead end, which just so happens
to have the final complement to your arsenal:
The Sacred Manacle. Turn around, then head
left (upper path). As you walk down a small
slope you'll need to kill a couple of birds
and mummies. You have a further two
choices: you can either go low or high -
both take you to the same area. Turn right
by levitating across the lava. Go through
the first entrance you come across on your
right. This takes you to a lava fall with
a passage at the bottom. Go down into that
passage. In here you'll find the Symbol
Of Earth door (which you cannot enter yet)
plus three flaming skull pots just waiting
to be blown to bits. Follow this tunnel round
as you pass through a square window to a
brick dam. Turn around and jump up onto the
platform above. Now turn around again and
continue ahead until you come to another
platform with a weak spot in the wall. Use
an Amun Bomb to destroy this part of the
wall to reveal a few higher steps, thus enabling
you to reach the eighth and final transmitter
piece. Levitate back off the platform, whilst
keeping in mind the fact that those blue
bolts are not good for your health. Now
duck down enough to move under the platform
and head forwards. You'll eventually pass
over another brick dam on your way to a door.
However, you must kill the Magmantis in the
lava near the door for it to open. Once
the door is open, you can reach the Symbol
Of Earth. Now head back to the Symbol Of
Earth door which you encountered earlier
(passage at bottom of lava fall). It's straight
ahead; the second visible passage on your
right. Enter the Symbol Of Earth door and
collect power-ups, but more importantly the
Symbol Of Power. Exit the room and
head left. Go through the square hole and
up to the platform where you acquired the
transmitter piece. Now go back on yourself,
towards the door which led to the Symbol
Of Earth. Go down that gap and straight ahead.
Don't enter any passage along here yet. You'll
come to a ledge with a few pots on. Turn
around, jump as high as you can, then levitate.
Now go back the way you came and enter the
last passage on your left (opposite the gap
you fell down which contained the Symbol
Of Earth). Follow this tunnel to the
end, jump up the step to your left and go
up the slope ahead of you. Now go back to
the starting point of this level by jumping
left. Walk up the slope to the camel. At
the top of it jump up high, then levitate
(releasing jump, then quickly holding it).
Follow the path to the right. You should
be able to reach the Symbol Of Time door;
although you don't have the key yet. Instead
jump up to the Symbol Of Power door and enter.
Flick the switch to remove the pillars blocking
the Symbol Of Time. Head back to the camel.
Now head down the left path, then the right,
which takes you to the ledge with the Symbol
Of Time - pick it up. Now go back the
way you came to the Symbol Of Time door.
Go through and head left after taking care
of the mummies. You'll come to a brick platform;
below it lies a passage. Drop down and enter
the passage. A Magmantis should appear: kill
it before continuing down the corridor. Enter
the room at the end. Collect the Symbol Of
War. In here you'll need to kill another
Magmantis for the door opposite to open.
Once the fiend is dead, make your way over
the lava and through the door. Levitate
across the lava until you come to a small
brick floor. Get onto the floor, then jump
up as high as you can and hold that height.
Continue ahead to the ledge at the end. Once
on it jump up, hold, then turn around. Now
double back on yourself. You'll come to a
ledge with the Symbol Of War door on it.
Go through the door. In here you'll find
the camel to the Kilmaat Colony.
Kilmaat Colony
Kill the two Kilmaat guards up the steps
next to the Symbol Of Power door. Once they're
dead you'll notice that lethal blue bolts
have started firing either side of the camel.
To stop them, press the switch on the wall
above; just before the steps. Now levitate
over the floor and destroy the large circular
wall on the camel's right side. Kill the
giant wasps flying through, then drop down
into the water. Destroy the water grate
at the bottom. Kill the piranha fish, then
swim through and up to the surface. Go through
the door and activate the floor switch, whilst
kicking the Kilmaat's butt. (You see a door
rise.) Go back into the water and swim round
to the left. Stay underwater and kill the
piranha fish, wasps, and Kilmaat guard. Walk
up the slope and enter the room on the right.
Kill both guards. Enter the next room and
pick up the Symbol Of Power. In here you'll
need to destroy a panel in the wall ahead
and above. So pull back and chuck an Amun
Bomb into the wall above. Then jump up each
panel to reach the new section. As you levitate
through the lava-filled tunnel, you will
have to avoid fireballs as well. Keep pushing
forward on the D-pad as you come out. Just
in front and below is the circular gap you
originally came through. Once through,
make your way to the Symbol Of Power door
(top of steps). Kill the Kilmaat scum and
turn left. Follow this round: past two guards
and over the metal platform. When the platform
falls down, drop into the corridor just below.
Kill guard and collect the Symbol Of Time.
Walk onto the platform in front, which is
moving up and down. Turn around and then
get off. After ending another Kilmaat life,
jump through the gap and you'll be back out
near the Symbol Of Power door. Turn
right and go back across the metal platform
(which has moved back up). Follow the corridor
round until you come to a room with a small
rectangular pool. The Symbol Of Time door
is also in here; not to mention four deadly
Kilmaat guards. After polishing off the guards,
enter the Symbol Of Time door. In front of
you is the long platform moving up and down.
Don't let it take you up yet, as you need
to disable the killer blue bolts first. So
levitate straight over the platform and ahead
to the switch on the back wall. Flick the
switch to disable the bolts. Then get onto
the platform, turn around, and jump into
the corridor above. At the end, drop down
to the floor. Kill all enemies through
the door. Then follow the path round to the
floor switch and activate it. Now turn around
and jump down below; one side has lava, the
other is a room. Kill the two guards, then
go through the door. Turn left. Now
jump up into the gap next to the Symbol Of
Time door. Turn around, then jump up into
a small passage above. You'll need to use
an Amun Bomb to clear the way. Once the hole
is made, turn left and go across the gap,
through the door at the end. Kill the
guards in the next room. Use an Amun Bomb
to blow a hole in the floor underneath the
moving platform. Drop down a little. Then
levitate to the Symbol Of War. Kill the guards
in this room, then swim into the large circular
room with steps going up around it; via the
water entrance underneath the full weapon
power-up. Now go back past the Symbol
Of Power door, over the metal platform. Go
up through the gap next to the Symbol Of
Time door and onto the moving platform above
the hole in the floor (which you made!).
Jump through the gap, over the lava
and down into a room with the Symbol Of War
door ahead. Kill wasps and guards before
collecting power-ups. Enter the Symbol Of
War door. The object of this next room (after
killing everybody) is to avoid the blue bolts
of death. Levitate over one, walk under the
next, and finally levitate over the third.
Next stop: Kilmaat Haunt.
Kilmaat Haunt
Just follow the path round. Pick up both
full power-ups. Finally, step onto each switch
to place the relevant artifact above it.
Then proceed through the now pillar-free
corridor and on to Kilmaat Arena.
Kilmaat Arena
When you get to the arena you'll be faced
with what can only be described as an ugly,
disgusting, freak of nature. Your first weapon
of choice should be the Sacred Manacle, at
least until he unleashes those meatballs
with teeth. Then switch to the Cobra Staff
to take these out. Once they're dead and
only the caterpillar-type creature is left,
use your flamethrower to cook him a little.
Finally, revert to the Sacred Manacle. After
a few good bursts he'll explode, leaving
you able to exit the arena the way you entered.
Tomb Of Ramses
Meanwhile: back at the tomb, the King's carcass
is returned. Now two things can happen from
this point:
Game Over
With Transmitter Ending
If you have all eight pieces of the transmitter
the wall will explode, providing you with
a path out of here. Avoid the fireballs and
wait for the walls to explode before continuing.
You get to a clearing and are met by a helicopter.
The King's final act is to bestow you with
the gift of immortality, Highlander style.
You become King of the World and rule for
all time.
Without Transmitter Ending
Oh dear! You didn't follow the guide too
well, did you? Once the King's carcass is
returned you soon follow him, only for your
remains to be excavated by the Kilmaat -
bummer!
