THE SUMMER OF 1999
Back in 1999, the first half of summer was one of the hottest and driest ever, especially in July. Daytime highs were in the 90's and 100's, and quite often at midnight the temperature was only down to the low-mid 80's. Weather like this is perfect for enjoying naturism, skinnydipping, and nude recreation. That's exactly what I did on several occasions.
I have spoken before in other writings about a park I go to at night in the summers. Here's a story of one great night that I spent there. First is a reprint of a post from a naturist forum where I mentioned this story, followed by the full-length version (I finally found it!) Even though I was as descriptive as I could be in my details, this text doesn't do the experience justice, because it was so wonderful. Enjoy!
Hi SunnyDay,
I have walked/jogged, ridden my bike, and
skinnydipped during bright full moons before.
I agree, that it feels almost magical!
I was out just the other night when the moon
was full. It was a bit cold, though,
so I didn't stay out long, but still it felt
great as always. And thanks for the
idea about housing developments, I never
would have thought of that.
In July of 1999 when it was so hot here in
Michigan, the temperature at night was only
down to around 80 at midnight. This
was perfect weather for being nude and free
outdoors. I rode my bike to a park
a few miles away, and made my way down to
the beach. I stripped off my shorts
and went over to the water. When I
stepped in, it was the most incredibly warm
lake water I'd ever felt. It really
felt warmer than the air, and there was zero
adjustment time for me to get used to it
before going in fully. This whole time
there was a full moon overhead with some
thin, whispy clouds, stars were out, moonlight
sparkling off the lake water, and to the
west there was a distant thunderstorm giving
me quite a lightning show. Now THIS
was a magical night! After a longer-than-usual
time of swimming, I got out and grabbed my
towel to dry off. With the towel draped
across my shoulders, I strolled down the
beach, up across the hill, and back to where
my bike was parked. Then I left the
towel there and walked again, now 100% nude
even though the towel wasn't covering anything
earlier, across the beach and up to the parking
lot. The moon was very bright so everything
was quite visible for walking around, and
the warm breeze coming off the water felt
incredible! I really wished I could
have had somebody there with me to enjoy
the night, and I truly didn't want to leave
(it was getting to be about 3 AM).
I'm sure I have a longer version of this
story someplace, but I can't find it at the
moment.

[7-24-99] I want to tell everybody
about the wonderful experience I had skinnydipping
last night. Every time I go skinnydipping
is wonderful to me, but last night was extra
special. Due to the lack of nude beaches
in my state (MI), I have to go to the local
public textile beach after hours, and after
dark. The lake has no houses on it,
other than the beach house of the park, so
the natural beauty of the location is more
or less unspoiled. [Late note:
Overflying the park one time, I saw that
there is one single house on the lake, down
the shore and out of sight of the park beach.
Even with that house there, I still think
this park would be ideal for a nude beach,
since visibility is a minimum from that house.]
The moon was nearly full in a clear but hazy
sky. The clouds did thicken as the
night progressed. On arriving at the
park entrance, I thought I heard the sounds
of people at the beach, so I thought I might
have to work around them for swimming time.
It turned out I was wrong and the park was
deserted, as usual. As I made my way
down to the beach I could see the silhouettes
of geese at the water. As I got closer
they moved out into the water, flapping and
honking, to clear the beach for me, quieting
down after a couple minutes. For various
reasons of excess caution and paranoia, I
almost left, but instead I decided to stay.
I'm sure glad I did.
After I stripped off what I had (just shorts
and shoes), my body could feel more accurately
the moderate temperature of the air (not
really warm, but just comfortable), and I
walked to the water. Here's the part
where I'm most glad I stayed: as I
stepped into the water, there was absolutely
no initial shock of cold or cool water.
It was the most incredibly warm lake water
I have ever felt! Warmer than any lake
I have ever felt anywhere, at any time before.
It was like bath water! I'm not exaggerating
when I say it was warmer than the air, maybe
by 10 degrees. It was like a heated
pool. Normally I have to splash and
rub the water up my legs, chest, and back
(my back and chest are the most sensitive
to cold) to get a little used to it before
entering it completely, but not this time.
I walked out to where it was just above knee-level,
and immediately sat down in it up to my neck.
Again, it was incredible!
All the while of swimming around in the water
or just staying still to soak in the warmth,
I had the visual delights of the moon, stars,
and quite a nice lightning show from a storm
off in the distance (it was nowhere near
close enough to be a danger). There
was also peacefulness in how quiet it was;
no traffic noise, just a distant train.
The lake water had its usual wonderful smell.
Talk about a stress-relieving sensory massage!
I swam back and forth across the swimming
area several times, which I also don't usually
do. I also scooped up sand from the
lake bottom and piled it on me, feeling it
flow off and caress my body along with the
water. While usually I am only
in the water 15 to 30 minutes, this time
I spent nearly an hour in the water; I just
did not want to get out. Every time
I would stand up out of the water, the breeze
caused quite a wind chill, so all I could
do is sink back into the outstanding warmth.
I couldn't get out!
Eventually I knew I had to get out of the
water, and I got a bit of a shiver while
running back to my towel. Once dry,
I could really feel the breeze. I don't
know if it was the air itself or the warmth
coming off the water, but the breeze felt
warmer than the still air did when I first
arrived. With my towel draped across
my shoulders I walked nude up and down the
beach (it's fairly large), thinking how great
it would be to be able to do this in the
daytime, and how NOBODY should NOT have the
chance to experience this. After a
while I left my towel with my other things
and continued to walk, now completely nude
(though I wasn't covering anything with the
towel earlier) to continue air-drying.
The drier I got, the warmer the breeze felt.
Again I went up and down the beach, up to
the beach house, out to the parking lot,
back to the beach, all the while just reveling
and thoroughly enjoying the feelings of absolute
freedom and relaxation. It was all
so wonderful I still didn't want to leave;
I wanted to run back down and jump in the
water again! I wished I had somebody,
anybody, everybody there to share the really
superb night with. I'm sure it was
a time you all would appreciate and enjoy.
Eventually, I packed up to leave, but I was
still nude (BTW, I was on a bike and have
ridden nude before). The farthest I
had ridden nude before was 1.2 miles of the
4.4 mile trip home. Last night I far
surpassed that. I estimate I rode just
over 3 miles, nude except for shoes, still
completely enjoying the feeling of freedom
that comes with nudity. I did slip
on my shorts for about a half mile to get
through a normally busy intersection, but
soon after removed them again to continue
the last mile home nude. Despite the
hour (3 AM) I still wasn't ready to end my
nude activities, so I left my shorts on the
porch at home and went for a walk down the
street and back (about a quarter mile one-way).
By then the sky had cleared and all the stars
were out. When I got back I decided
I should get some sleep, so I finally went
to bed (nude as usual, of course).
But it's not ended; I'll be going back tonight!
I hope it's as great as last night.
Thanks for reading my story of naturist adventure.
I know it's kind of long, but I wanted to
get the details down before they faded into
hazy memory like so many other similar times,
and it wouldn't be the same if I left anything
out. I also wanted to tell my story
to urge you all to find a place where you
can have such a beautiful experience.
It relieves the stresses and anxieties of
the day like nothing else can, and as I said,
giving you such extraordinary feelings of
peace, freedom, and relaxation. And
I mean it when I say stress-relieving; never
once did I think about the problems of the
day or the week that had been bothering me.
These times really make me feel at one with
nature. Skinnydipping, whether day
or night, is such a rewarding activity that
nobody should be unable to experience it;
there is no logical or sensible reason to
NOT allow it, or any forms of nude recreation.
If only the government would use their own
minds for once to realize that. Anyway,
I highly recommend nude activities such as
this; visit a nude beach or resort, or if
you can't find one in your area, make one
for yourself like I did. And you might
also try introducing somebody else to it.
Thanks for reading.
