 Professional & Cultural Time Log:

1999-today

Hired by EDS Electronic Data System Italia S.p.A. as Associate System Engineer

Current Assignement: System & Network Manager Supervisor

1995 - 1999 :

Hired by Basica S.p.A. as Software Designer
has been involved in activities as:

  • Design, Implementation & Research of new functionalities on already existing CASE Tools in a ToolBuilder environment. Worked on two separate projects: LDM (Logical Data Modeling) and RETIP (ReposiTories Integrated Platform). LDM started from various language data definitions import, yelding their logical structure to be reengineered. After reengineering LDM could export DDL to various RDBMS. RETIP was a kind of superset of LDM and took care of programs and routines acting on data; it could keep traceability between programs own storage and data they were acting upon in such a way to mark out refections of single changes on the entire system, beyond being a system documenting tool. My job has been modularising these tools in order to extract some reusable components and defining an SQL query interface on them. Languages used were C/C++ and EASEL (ToolBuilder’s own language), O.S. were Solaris 2 & HP-UX 9.0 and used Softbench for the C/C++ project stage.
  • MS-Windows based client-server applications developing. Developed mostly DLL that were reading data (ie. Importing a file) through TCP implementations and socket programming. All was done with MSVC++ and PC-NFS API on client side and with default UNIX tools on the Wokstation side (Server side).
  • Built a series of OSF/Motif & PowerBuilder based user interfaces for programming languages source converters and plaltform migration tools. OSF/Motif was used for designing an interface for a source language converter (from IBM DPCX to CICS/COBOL 86). PowerBuilder was used for building an internal project activity reporting system. It was based on ODBC database connectivity.
  • Developed VB applications with Access Database support. The application is a Client/Server one, for use of Hospitals Pharmaceutical dept. It keeps track of all the medicines movements, their cost, their use and their commercial history; keeps track of recipes and their cost imputation vs. other external Health Structure (Balance Compensation).
  • Currently envolved into a Remote Data-Wharehuosing project, into designing projecting and building the communcation services middleware between the main Server (which runs Oracle 8 and Windows N T Server) and the remote clients (running Windows NT Workstation).
