Easter is one of the most important festivals of the year
for Christians. At this time, they remember the crucifixion
of Jesus Christ and His resurrection three days later.
Christians believe that Christ died so that the people
of the world could make a new start in their lives,
forgiven by God for any wrong actions or thoughts.
The celebration of the Easter Season begins with Lent.
Lent,a period of fasting and penitence traditionally
observed by Christians in preparation for Easter.
Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, gets its name from the
practice, mainly in the Roman Catholic church, of putting
ashes on the foreheads of the faithful to remind them that
"man is but dust."
Palm Sunday, one week before Easter, celebrates the entry of
Jesus into Jerusalem. Holy Week begins on this day.
Holy Thursday, or Maundy Thursday, is in memory of the
Last Supper of Christ with his disciples.
Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion.
Easter Sunday, is the celebration of Gods fulfillment
of his promise to us. The promise of salvation, through
His son, the Risen Christ to all who follow and believe.
Easter is celebrated by some with bunnies and eggs
The egg is considered as a symbol of new life.
Although the use of eggs and bunnies have become symbols
of Easter, but they are not the sole reason or the major
focus of Easter.
